Morning Hair! Caveman meets electrocuted Elvis..... 'Tis a funny sight indeed!

I woke up this morning, staggered into the bathroom and when I saw a reflection of myself in the mirror, I damn near had me a heart attack! Who WAS that freak staring back at me?? My hair resembled Elvis's after he had just been hit by a stun gun! (Well my hair isn't black and I don't have massive mutton chop sideburns, but hey, it SOUNDED good in my head when I wrote it!) Are you one of these people that look like someone that has just stumbled out of a lomg lost caveman tribe camp when you first wake up in the morning, or are you one of the few that are blessed to actually look human when you wake up?

Not that bad James, i'm somewhere in between the human and the caveman. Not the electrocuted Elvis type, but did realise this morning that i did need a haircut after all. But just to avoid getting that early morning shock, i make it a point to first splash the face , brush back the hair and then look at the mirror. BTW why did your hairdo have that look ? Nightmare with the egyptian mummies or what ?

This is the thing alok..... I have not had a full haircut for over 6 months now, so my hair is longer than usual! This means there is much more of it to consoire against me while I sleep! Maybe I DID dream about something scary, I'm not sure. But if this is the case then it appears I have dreams like this every night! I can't remember any of them. I think what I should do is place a bucket of water beside the bed and when I wake up every morning, I can dunk my entire head in there to tame the wild follicles! lol. Thanks for the response and don't forget to have "Panda Spanker" carved into the back of your head when you get your next haircut.....

You want to dunk your head in the water or you want someone to spalsh it on you, now what may that make you look like? And the tatoo on my head, oh that's when you shave/scalp my head. And why don't we see a snap of this prehistoric electroucted Elvis lookalike here along with the discussion ?

Elvis with morning hair! - Even Elvis has bad hair days; and especially when he first wakes up of a morning!
I think it's better that I dunk my own head alok. At least this way I know it's coming and won't leap out of bed like a maniac! lol. Elvis with morning hair would look something like this I reckon..... (Crude but you asked for it! lol)

Oh, sheesh! I don't even look in the mirror until I have had a bath, and am at least feeling halfway decent. Of course, there is the beard thing that shocks me even to this day. *LOL* You'd think after looking at ourselves every morning for years and years, we'd be used to the sight of us every morning, wouldn't you?*L*

You'd think so, yes. But I guess this is the joy of aging and we get to see ourselves evolve over time! (Deteriorate might be a better word for it! lol) I get shocked by the "beard thing" too by the way, so I can't imagine what it must be like for a woman! Thanks for sharing Bo and if you are only feeling halfway decent then how does the other half look; and which half is it?

Oooooh! You should cut 'em into thirds and mix and match 'em! It would definitely be an interesting journey though and I guess it would sort of be like a silent movie version of "This is Your Life!" lol. (If you put all the pictures in a pile and flicked 'em really fast one after the other anyways) I don't really have any access to photo's of myself like this so I am unlikely to get the chance myself. It would provide a good laugh though I'm sure; and especially for your kids!

Ummmmm, wellllllllll, huh, I don't know. Hadn't thought about it. I didn't think anybody would think to ask me that, so I didn't prepare an answer. Should have known that YOU would have asked. My mother in law has given us a box full of pictures the last couple of years, for Christmas. It is kind of funny to look back on the way we have aged, and all the stages we have gone through the past 30 years.

A mirror certainly never lies bala! I especially dislike mirrors in changing rooms with fluorescent lighting. It seems this type of light cause the truth to be even MORE revealing! lol. Thanks for the response and I have of course accepted your friend request. I honestly thought we were connected already!

Well, I find most women wake up with the 'electrocuted look'...especially if they have long hair. The only exception, I guess, would be the lucky ones who have silky straight hair. I'm so used to the look now that I just get up and brush my hair before walking into the bathroom!

lol...my husband's the lucky one in our family....so is my older son who has inherited his father's straight hair (the only thing that he seems to have inherited...thank goodness!....oh sorry...not the only thing...they share the same blood group too)

Lucky them then! If I ever need a transfusion (God willing I will never need one!) then I know where to go. I can improve my condition AND my morning hair issues in one hit if they have magical hair gene qualities!

you are not the odd man out.nowadays many men prefer the electrocuted elvis look!anything ordinary would be considered as odd man. many years ago before the bell bottoms came in vogue,i accidently wore one of my husbands pants to work(it was so dark,i didnt put on the light for fear of disturbing them).i was so EMBARRASSED.but i was consoled by my well meaning colleagues, that everybody would think it is a sort of fashion.

So it's a trend now is it riya? Cool! Wearing your husband's pants is pretty funny. I could never accidentally put on my wife's clothes or her mine because there is no way we would fit each others pants or even shirts! lol. What would have been interesting is if people at your work DID think it was a new fashion trend and all the women there started doing the same! Hahahaha. Thanks for the response and keep the bell bottoms if you still have them. That stuff comes back into fashion on and off all the time!

You know what's weird? I always get compliments about my hair when I go out without brushing it at all. I have straight hair so when I wake up and see it tousled and a bit wavy, I like it!

There you go! It must be nice to know you have a back-up career as a romance novel cover model then SaintAnne. You might have to get them to airbrush out all your bumps and bruises though.....

Well you are again one of the lucky ones SaintAnne! Most of us get to resemble something that crawled out of a dumpster behind a hair salon every morning and you get to wake up with a windswept, tousled look that receives compliments rather than looks of horror! At least the universe makes up for this unfair advantage you have by making you bump into things. Thanks for responding and for making all us bed hair victims feel even more inadequate.

Me flipping my windswept, tousled hair! Windswept, tousled hair sounds like something you read from one of those Harlequin books or at least those that have Fabio on the cover with a barely covered female.

I guess it all depends on how I slept..and if I showered before bed and went ot bed with my hair wet or not. Usually if I go to bed with my hair wet I do tend to have bushy hair in the mornings then if I went to bed with dry hair. You could keep a brush besides your bed and brush your hair before you stumble into the bathroom..could keep the shock down to a minimum. Either that or run a dryer sheet over your head..lol

I don't do it often but sometimes when m brain is still whirling but my body is all give out for the night./morning..nothing better helps me to relax then a shower as hot as I can stand it..Dunking your head in water wold sure get the ticker a starting and your brain buzzing..I guess a hairnet could be a option..not a pretty one, but a option...or a tobaggon..on really cold night I have slept with one on..hair stayed pretty flat.

I don't have the luxury of taking a steaming hit shower I'm afraid. The water system in my building's absolutely atrocious and I get all of 5 - 10 minutes to shower each morning. If I blast out the really hot water, the time is even shorter! I might feel like a fast-food worker if I went to bed with a hairnet! Do you want fries with that?

Narcissus- A narcissist? Me Daffodil? - What a lovely creation!!
I actually not only look human but also not any less than a beauty queen right out after winning the miss universe title. lol. Well, that's what i find myself like in the mirror reflection. To others maybe I might look like someone from your old stone age cavewoman. Hahahahahaha. Its better to ask someone else from in the family as I am a narcissist. I am not joking this time. Just look up in the oxford dictionary and it says thats the word "narcissus":noun(plural-narcissi) a daffodil with a flower that has pale outer petals and an orange or yellow centre.

Hahahaha. Well I have to commend you for your self esteem Daffodil! Yes, the narcissus is a very pretty flower so seems to suit your attitude just fine! lol. The original fable about Narcissism was about the girl who became so enamored by her own reflection in a pond that she eventually fell in and drowned! Thanks for the response and if they ever come up with a Miss Universe/Miss Cavewoman contest combination you may just be able to satisfy yourself AND others who see you in the morning at the same time!

Hi there James. I have the same problem especially now in the winter when i don't get my hair cut so often, so when i wake up i usually get a wing of hair on the side where my head was staying on the pillow. I will fix the problem for the moment really soon as i plan a haircut this week . P.S.: Still no snow in my city, so you will have to wait for that panda a little longer...

Hiya elitess! I haven't had a full haircut for some 6 - 8 months now so you can imagine how my own hair must look in the morning! I slick it back for work each day though so it's not flying everywhere for long! Good luck with the haircut and if you get anything special done, make sure you share a pic! Thanks for the response too and I will most definitely wait patiently for your city to get snow because if you pull this one off, you will secretly be my hero!

You are lucky James. I look in the mirror in the morning and see an old woman with hair all over the place and pillow wrinkled skin. It gives me an awful shock as I think I am still 20 sometimes and this gives me a rude awakening, literally. It is alright after I have sorted things out but it takes a while. Men are lucky they just look distinguished when they get old and old soldiers are said to just fade away so what chance have we women got?

Your husband isn't supposed to even KNOW about the toyboy wanderer! I like the reverse pyschology approach you put forward with the photo of an older woman on the mirror! Good idea. When you reach your 80's or 90's, you can put a photo of a mummy up there!
16 Dec 08
I think my husband would have something to say about the toyboy, James. I decided years ago that I would age disgracefully and I am trying to live up to that promise. Enjoy livfe while you have got it and to h with everthing meaningless. I think I will put a picture of an ugly old crone on the mirror just to remind me that I could be a lot worse.

This also reminds me of your "rooster hair" discussion. I kind of like my hair in the morning with all the kinks, waves, and hollywood-level-disheveled look. Ah! So Beyonce Knowles!....until I start combing it and it never goes the way I want it.

It's all about the hair Theresa! personally I like to go for that electrocuted Elvis meets Don King meets Macy Gray meets Amy Winehouse kinda hair look when i wake up of a morning. It's all about orginality see? Beyonce needs to step it on up in the crazy hair department I reckon. Come on Beyonce, get your act together girl!
