Movie Review - The Day The Earth Stood Still

I have not seen the older version of the same movie.
But the scenes in the new movie is quite good.

CGI in movies are getting better and better. So, if you are a CGI buff, this movie a worth a watch on the big screen.
Story wise, like I said, it is a bit preachy.

ha ha ha ha ha... I went in just in time to catch the show opening. So, I am not aware of the trailers before that.
I wonder when the Wolverine movie is gonna show.
Any date been fixed yet?

Looks like there are quite a few movies lined up next year that is worth watching!

I hope so, this year didn't have much worth going to the theater for.

Bond was a nice movie that is worth a watch. No?
With my busy schedule, I missed it.
Waiting to get my hands on the DVD to watch it at home!

Then there was Hulk. And Ironman. And a few more that I had to watch on the big screen. Just cannot remember them from the top of my head.

Ironman & Dark Night. That's all I've seen in the theater this year. And Twilight, but it wasn't a Must See in the Theater like the other two. I went because a friend of mine wanted to see it and didn't want to go alone. I'm glad I did, it was good. But still that's 3 for me, Bond and Hulk for you, so that makes 5 movies worth seeing in the theater all year. I want to see The Day The Earth Stood Still and Austrailia, but I doubt I'll see either in the theater.

Oh yeah... Dark Knight! I forgot all bout that one!
Ah well... I went for the show and found it to be good.
With so many things taking up my time, I rarely get a chance to go watch a good movie these days.

I saw the trailer on TV. Looks ok. I was thinking of waiting for the DVD instead.

Yes, but I think I may wait until it's on DVD also. That's how I usually watch movies anyway. I like the comforts of my own home, and I can pause it when I need to.

ha ha ha ha ha ... that is what both my parents and in-laws are saying.
They refuse to go to the cinema no matter how good the movie is.
Yet to be able to drag them into one to watch a movie.

So, have you watched it yet?
When I saw the trailer, the first thought I got was another installation for the fantastic 4. Cos the big fella, Gord, I think, looks like an incarnation of Apocalypst from Marvel!

Well not everyone likes sci fi so if you don't you probably will be bored. But since I am a sci fi fanatic nothing said here is going to stop me from watching the movie for myself. After I do I may have to come back to this discussion to refute some of what was said in the review.

I had some time to while away. And what better than to catch a movie.
It was a good movie to fill in the gap while waiting for my wife to finish her hair treatments.

If you have a large TV with HD, wait for the disc. The story is too preachy. But if you are a CGI buff, go to the large screen. The CGI is very well rendered.

U mean u watch that alone?? hehe^_^ I will never watch a movie alone, all by myself.. haha

Well, when you are alone and bored, you probably may do just that.
Sitting at starbucks of coffee bean is gonna be costing you about $7 for a drink. Might as well top it up with a little more and get better value for money for a longer time.

A cup of beverage is only going to last you 40 mins. Max.
For $10 you get entertainment for the duration of a movie!
Of course I would opt for the movie!

haha.. I think i will rather sit at starbucks with my papers, and enjoying my drink there.. hehe^_^ IF i finished my drink, then i will just walk around, but i will never ever watch a movie.. haha

I never really watch the original, so I cannot do the comparison.

Hmmm, I may have been at the time this movie came out. I was born in April 1952, so I could have been more than a twinkle in my daddy's eyes at the time. LOL

I've seen the original a few times as reruns of the old movie. It's funny, but the day you posted this discussion, that night the original movie came on TV! Ironic, huh?

Hmm... I have never even heard of this movie. Let alone find it in a local video store.
If the papers did not mention that it is a remake, I wouldn't have known any better.

Maybe I will try to put the Laws of Attraction to use.
If I want it enough, for all you know, it may be shown on the local channels!

Why not? It is ultimately your choice.
The movie is predictable in my opinion. If not for the scenes in the movie, it is really not worth the money go watch it on the big screen.

If you have a big TV at home with HD, then wait for the DVD.

Otherwise, if you have a little time to while away, and dunno what to do? This movie is perfect for filling that gap!
