|  The FBI os inestigating allegations, stemming from lawsuits in Texas and Delaware, that top Coleman donor Nasser Kazeminy improperly funneled tens of thousands of dollars to Coleman and/or his wife Laurie.

Here's an excerpt from the above article: A few days before the election, a lawsuit filed in a Texas district court alleged that one of Coleman's biggest donors and closest friends, Nasser Kazeminy, had routed $75,000 to Coleman's wife, Laurie. The suit was filed against Kazeminy by Paul McKim, a self-described diehard Republican and CEO of Deep Marine Technologies, a deep sea energy exploration company in Houston in which Kazeminy is controlling shareholder.
A second lawsuit, filed by minority shareholders of DMT in Delaware a few days later, alleged that Kazeminy ordered the payments directly to Coleman. According to the lawsuit, Kazeminy told a confidential source: "We have to get some money to Senator Coleman" because the Senator "needs the money." When McKim and DMT's CFO objected, three payments of $25,000 were then sent to Coleman's wife at a Minneapolis-based insurance firm, the Hays Insurance Co, even though Hays did no work for DMT and is not a licensed insurance broker in Texas, according to the lawsuits. Laurie Coleman is best known as an actress who's lived in Los Angeles, not an insurance broker. "These fraudulent and grossly improper payments cost DMT at least $75,000 and brought absolutely no value to the company," the second lawsuit stated. "These payments expose the Company to serious potential criminal and civil liability."(End of excerpt)
In a moment that may remind some of the current Illinois Governor's case, Kazeminy reportedly told Deep Marine's CFO that Coleman needed the money because "US Senators don't make sh1t."
Maybe the MN Senate recount is the least of Coleman's worries! As the writer of the article I linked above says, "The allegations are eerily similar to those that doomed New Jersey Senator Bob Torricelli and Alaska Governor Ted Stevens, who landed in hot water for accepting gifts/cash from campaign donors."What are your opinions?

| | Isn't there at least on other former Illinois Governor in prison? I know there have been but maybe they're either out or have died by now! They have almost enough to form a baseball team, I think. A basketball team for sure!

| |  Yep, I believe a basketball team. Let's see we have Rod, Ryan, Kerner, another one, and then we have big Jim Thompson a good buddy of Ryan and now trying to get him out of jail. I remember that big Jim wasn't an angel. We've had some dandies!

| |  Ah is this another Republicans are bad and Americans were right in wanting Obama as president? So why not get rid of the Republican party altogether since in your opinion, they are all crooks? then America can have abortion on demand, same gender marriage, Christians being sued, etc. I think you do not realize that the Democrats have done bad things as well, but it appears you are concentrating on the bad things that Republicans do, and that is getting me concerned.
You see, we are having problems up here in Canada with the Liberals (our
Democrats)and NDP (our far left socialist party) wanting a coalition and we do not want two similar type parties, because we want all to be protected.

| | Where in this post did I even mention Obama? I certainly never said ALL Republicans are crooks and I have posted about Democrats who have gotten into legal trouble. There are crooks from both sides of the aisle and there are also good and decent people from both sides. Can YOU admit that?
As for the other things you mentioned which actually have nothing to do with this topic, abortion has been legal in the U.S. for years and Obama isn't going to change that either way. He is not for same gender marriage which is unfortunate although neither he nor McCain are for a Constitutional Amendment, instead they both think it should be left up to the individual states. I have no clue what you mean about "Christians being sued"; you'll have to elaborate on that for me to comment any further.
To get back to the topic of this discussion, are you of the opinion that there should be no investigation even if it does appear Coleman has been involved with illegal activities? In this case it appears money may have actually changed hands while with the Illinois Governor there had only been talk about it. How about Ted Stevens, was he treated unfairly because he's a Republican?

| |  Well, it looks then like Minnisotans will be stuck with either an outright loon or an outright crook in congress. Business as usual I suppose. Good to see political theater hasn't been hurt by the economy. At least we still have some entertainment. If it wasn't so pervasive it would almost be funny.
