There are many tales of 'little folk' and comparisons such as 'impish behaviour'. What sort of little people do you have in your country and are they good or bad?

We have lots of them here in the Philippines. We have the equivalent of dwarves that are believed to inhabit anthills (thus among the superstitious, anthills are steered clear of). They are believed to be generally good, but can also harm people if provoked (such as if their anthill-home is harmed, whther intentionally or not). There is also what is called in our language "tiyanak" - a hideous, evil little creature (imagine something like the gremlins or worse) that can morph into an angelic looking infant to beguile people and make them take it into their homes. Happy mylotting!

Thank you this discussion is already quite interesting and informative. Tiyanak is one I've never heard of.

The natives in my country speak of 'Jinns' and other spirits which both good and bad, pretty much like people. I'm not too familiar with their mythology but some 'Jinns' have been known to come into service of their black magicians.

Thank you, I had heard of Jinn but did not know where they were from.

My family was of German descent, they always joked about 'Grebels.' (Not sure if that's the right spelling of it lol) Whenever something was missing, or out of place, it was 'the Grebels must have taken it'...and then they'd laugh. Haven't thought about that in the 20+ years since my Grammy's been gone. Hehehe...thanks for the memories nanna!

Well, as I'm English and live in England, I believe that I have fairies living at the bottom of my garden, I believe this is true because I weed my garden sometimes and almost straight away after there are more weeds! So, I think the fairies did it.

It's the imps that put the weeds back, the fairies plant toadstools for their fairy rings.
