Removing Blackheads & Whiteheads

I seem to have visible blackheads on my nose area. The white ain't that visible & can be easily removed by pore packs. However, the blackheads are tougher to remove. How do you remove your black and white heads? I read somewhere using warm water to rub over the "affected" areas would remove the heads. However, after i've tried that method, my nose does indeed feel smoother but the black heads are still there and visible. I've used pore packs, but they are more "useful" for removing white heads than black heads.
