How do you get someone who's stubborn

WHy not celebrate at someone elses house and invite her to come along. Eliminate all of the work she would have to do if she were to host it herself. My grandmother is the exact same way and come to find out she is just embarrassed that she doesnt have the money to buy gifts for everyone. Just let her know that it's about family and nothing is expected of her other than the pleasure of her company.

It doesn't matter what the rest of the family thinks or wants, if she's not interested, leave her alone about it. Tastes change as you get older. If you treat her like a child who needs to be forced to do things, that won't change how she feels about it. For many people, xmas just isn't that important. For all you know, she never cared for it and just went along for the family's sake, and is tired of doing that. If it doesn't make her unhappy not to celebrate xmas, don't project your own feelings about it onto her. In other words, lay off.
