One Foot Of Snow |
|
Well all told last week I got a foot of snow total in my area. I loved it but the removal is a hard demanding task. But it is done. Now we are expecting another 2 to 4 inches tonight and tomorrow and my snowblower has siezed up on me. I love this shot. It was taken at dark and the flash really makes the snowflakes near the camera appear huge. This is my backyard. The firepit is aboput 14 inches tall and it is nearly buried. Got to dig that out and maybe have a bonfire Christmas Eve. Got snow? Do you have bonfires in the snow? HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

1. tyc415 (4491) | 1 year ago | If and or when I have had or will ever again have snow I will not have a bonfire only because I would want to keep the snow as long as I could and the heat would melt it. hahahahahaha It sounds like that snow keeps you busy keeping your drive cleared.

2. wolfie34 (13858) | 1 year ago | I love having bonfires, there's something awesome about the smell of a bonfire, especially in the Autumn/Fall time! We hardly have any snow here but about ten or so years back we had a heavy snowfall and it was wonderful the crackling of the fire as we stood and kept warm around it, surrounded by snow all around, it's quite romatic in a funny sort of way too and being out in the open there's nothing nicer than a roaring fire.

4. Chevee (3598) | 1 year ago | You have done a lot of work clearing the snow this year GrandpaBob and it seems like you got a lot more to do. The weather here is just cold. It was nice and warm a couple of days and all of a sudden it got cold the highest today is expected to be 37 degrees. By Christmas day it will be cack up in the 50's. Happy Snow Blowing.

5. suspenseful (17039) | 1 year ago | Quick! Forward that photo to those 'scientists' who believe we are in global warming. We do not have a fire pit and if we did, we would get a notice from the city that does not allow trash fires and besides it would be buried it in the snow. Yesterday after church, I was shoveling the snow off our sidewalk, and it was almost knee dip at some places. We were looking at the price of snow blowers and they cost about $400 at the cheapest where we live, so I guess it is back to the shovel again if it snows tomorrow.

6. Polly1 (8462) | 1 year ago | We don't have as much snow. We got several inches of ice with the last storm. We also have the bone chillin cold and high winds. I woke up this morning with a houseful of frozen pipes. Thankfully I just got the pipes thawed out a fe minutes ago. That is except for the cold water at the kitchen sink. I at least have hot water and water to the rest of the house. Isn't winter in our neck of the woods just grand. Good luck with the snow blower, I want one of those. I have to do all mine by hand. No driveway though, I have to park on the street, then when the plow comes thru, they bury the car. Joy, Joy.

webeishere (12371) | 1 year ago | Bummer. My pipes have yet to freeze in the wintertime thanfully. I love the cold and snow actually. I just having to go out in it to remove the snow. With my bronchial asthma I tend to get really sick. I am like that now from being out in it. A bad cold and hacking all the time. Guess smoking doesn't help a lot either. HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

| 7. rodschick (2) | 1 year ago | We got 10" here and I am glad because it guarantees a white Christmas. The only problem was digging it out. We have a corner house so the driveway is long and the sidewalk is even longer. The worst part is the snow at both ends of the driveway left by the snowplow!

trinidadvelasco (9110) | 1 year ago | the snowplow should be doing wonders in areas where snowfall is really heavy. i can still remember that during those days when there were none of them around yet, the pictures that come about figured people digging snow using the shovel by hand. in my mind, i used to think it should take them next to forever to be able to finish the job.

10. trinidadvelasco (9110) | 1 year ago | whenever i come across discussions on the difficulty regarding how it is to deal with thick snowfalls, i can't help it but be thankful i don't have to deal with similar problems. i am pretty sure though that you people are so used to having the snowtime coming in each year and thus, you will feel so bad and downtrodden if no snowfalls takes place during winter. that's tantamount to no winter at all.
now, i am sensing that you people really enjoy having the thick snow accumulating. as you have already been planning about having bonfires in the snow. for you therefore, webeishere, enjoy the activity to the hilt. have those happy holidays all the way!
