3. Zaphan (234) | 11 months ago | yes you can learn moves. but the best way to learn martial arts is to apply it. have you sparring partner that are interested in martial arts too.. in that way you can train yourself. not just watching... when it comes to real situation you can't apply your tutorials watched on videos. and one thing more you have to undergo the basic exercises stretching to make your body or muscles prepared for the training. concentrate on how to strengthen your muscle and mind concentration..

4. ShepherdSpy (2464) | 7 months ago | It may theoretically be possible, but why would you want to want to do this? Are there no classes available where you live? Martial Arts training involves repetitive training of certain techniques and combinations of moves until it becomes conditioned in you..if You have never done any training before, even the best instruction video is no substitute for a full class training environment. You could learn a technique wrongly and injure yourself..and You'll never get the feedback or encouragement on how you're advancing from a virtual teacher,or the achievement of moving up the belt grading hierarchy either!

Not only that but some of the techniques are a lot harder than they look, and with instructors and fellow students you can learn how to do everything correctly. If you find a good school you even get a decent workout every class which is always a plus. I'm not saying that you can't do it from watching a video, I just wouldn't recommend it.

7. scoutsniper85 (321) | 3 weeks ago | for me learning must be with guidance not with a video only you can't learn that very easily, base on my experience as an athlete and a martial artist it thus take hard work and constant repetition. when looking in the video with out imitation guidance of a coach you mistakes will not be corrected. and you can never perfect it.

8. boybato (452) | 4 days ago | Details are very important in any martial art discipline and I think that there are very little details that video tutorials can't teach. The importance of a real instructor or a coach is to guide one along the way, teach the basics and master it and later on move on to more advanced techniques. What video tutorials can give are very limited as they can only show how the technique is done but not really the very necessary details in between, details that can sometimes make or break a technique or details that can make a technique a very much efficient one.
I'm not bashing video tutorials or saying that it ain't effective in learning. Video tutorials are great but personally, I think it's only good for a review after training and learning from a real person/instructor. Learning the basics is a very important part. I myself is watching some martial arts video tutorials and I learned a lot from it. Incorporating techniques learned from videos to the techniques that I already know from my trainings give me more versatility and variations. Most of the videos that I watch are Krav Maga videos. The way I look at Krav Maga, it is an incorporation of different martial art techniques but eliminated the less essential part. It only utilizes the practical techniques. Learning Krav Maga through video tutorials after learning and training different martial art disciplines is a great way to learn as the basics are already there. A little more practice with others then one is already set to go.
