I am loving Guiding Light right now. Granted it's holidays and they always tend to have good episodes right about now, but I'm so thrilled with Shayne and Dinah. That kiss they shared on December 22nd was amazing. I really like his tortured character and am completely drawn in to why he doesn't like being called a hero. Perhaps Guiding Light is on its way back to the greatness it once was?

I have always ceased to understand the human involvement in daytime dramas(soap operas). They are so far flung from reality. At least reality shows are close to the truth. Why not watch,"Survivor," At least those people are doing something and they are real people, not some schlock that a repressed hermit of a writer pulled outta his tuckass and deemed worthy of my time.

If I wanted reality for entertainment, I'd turn on the news. There, I could find no end of the reality of humanity. If you think "Survivor" or any of its ilk are in any way, shape, or form related to reality then your suspension of disbelief goes further than that required for a soap opera. Fantasy is a cornerstone of human creativity. Sure, it's still fantasy. But it's in our dreams of what could be that we find what we can create. Soap operas aren't reality, they're not meant to be reality. At their best they are a form of analogy to help us understand ourselves a little better. At their worst, they're cheap entertainment. They're not everybody's cup of tea, but they do fill a niche in some people's lives. For me, soap operas are a connection. Not just to the characters on the screen, but to the history attached to watching the show. Unlike a lot of programming, soap operas long history allows them to be something that is shared by generations. My family is no different. And as a writer, I'm sorry you don't feel my work is worthy of your time, but others do.

I love Shayne, too! He is playing his character great! He's so subtle and nuanced and on point! I always look forward to seeing him!

He's doing a great job with the role. And on a completely girlie note, dude has a great voice. It's a Sean Connery sort of voice. He could read the telephone book and I'd watch. They picked a winner with him.

I like the storyline of shayne and dinah. it is about time dinah found someone worthy of her. I have alway like dinah and though know one understood her or tried to understand her feelings.
