First, It's a Wonderful Life becuase I think it's a great story of community solidarity and how important average people are. Second, Angels in America. A story of the AIDS crisis in the early days. You'll cry, you'll get angry, and at times wonder what were you thinking especially to Louis who's a main character and a bit of a schmuck. Third, Torch Song Trilogy. A classic gay movie but if they showed it in high schools I'm sure there would be much less gay bashing. Fourth, Long Time Companion. I can't watch this movie anymore. It gets through about the first three minutes and I start to bawl. For someone who lost way too many friends to the AIDS crisis before it became a serious issue it's just too emotional. However, it's still a very good film. Fifth, The Running Man. I know this sounds like an odd choice from a mostly political movie person, but even though it's very different from the short story which is also good it's a lighthearted look at future politics and media. Sixth, Horton Hears a Who. Doctor Seuss. Need I say more? Seventh, Love and Basketball. Even if you don't like sports, this movie has something for everyone. From romance to sports to sexism. You'll enjoy this film. Eighth, And the Band Played On. The somewhat scary tale of where would be in AIDS research if doctors and researchers competitive nature and ambitions. It will really make you think. Ninth, Kissing Jessica Stein. A really funny movie about a straight girl who decides to go the bicurious route and the consequence of that. As an aside, there are lots of cute people of both genders (always a good thing in my book). Tenth, My Cousin Vinny. Not the deepest movie in the world but you've gotta laugh sometimes and why does Ralph Macchio never age? What are your ten movies to see before you die? I'm eagerly awaiting your answers.

Your movies as well as many in the other posts are great. There are too many to just name 10. I would sort of mix it up a bit, and put some of the older classics, if not for the storyline, just for the wonderful actors, when Hollywood was truly for actors and not action stars. Something with Bogey and Bacall (Casablanca), Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, Cagney, Holden, Grant, etc etc. That was a truly magical time in Hollywood. Of course there a lot wonderful classic newer movies as well with great actors which are worthhy of making the list. I love the originals (sans sequals) Rocky, Jaws, Halloween etc.

This is a hard one to answer because there have been so many great movies so I know it's impossible for me to remember them all! I'm going to choose some from Hollywood's "Golden Age" as well as some more modern movies. One thing you may notice is that, in my view, they don't make them like they used to! Here's my list in no particular order: 1/ Gone With the Wind 2/ It's a Wonderful Life 3/ The Wizard of Oz 4/ Million Dollar Baby 5/ Planet of the Apes (the original) 6/ Field of Dreams 7/ The Way We Were 8/ Love Story 9/ Rocky 10/ The Godfather Annie

First. I liked Kissing Jessica Stein. And Torch Song Trilogy was great too. Have you seen Love Valour, Compassion? If you like Touch Song, you will like this one too. Here is my list. Casablanca. It is the perfect film. If you like romance, it has it. If you like drama, it has it. If like musicals, there a few numbers too. Citizen Kane.It has the scale of an epic yet is a very personal movie. it was the first time many of the shots we are used to were used.Any person who likes the way movies are shot will love this film.Schindler's List. It tells a very important story in a loving and striking way.The Searchers.it is the best western ever made.Like Citizen Kane, it tells a personal story in a vast way. And it has some of the best outdoor scenes ever shot.Fine acting and a great plot.An American In Paris. if you like musicals , it is a must see.The music of Gershwin and the dancing of gene Kelly. What else can I say?North By Northwest. This is the best Hitchcock film to show anyone who hasn't seen a Hitchcock film.It has humor, romance , dram , a little action and of course suspense. The Godfather. It is a epic. It is about a family who is a " family".Great drama married with violence.Pulp Fiction. This film is so unique. It is for anyone who is tired of the same old one story told in the same old linear way. If you like great dialogue and violence and comedy all rolled into one film, this the film for you.JFK.This is the shortest long film I have ever seen.Regardless of your view this film is interesting to see.Great cast, I mean a great cast. There are cameos in this film that are better than leading roles in other films. And the editing. This film is over 2 hours long but it feels like it is less than 2 hours. If you are into this story, this a Must see.And last but not least Usual Suspects. It is a masterpiece. If you like action And suspense, this is the film to see. There is a surprise ending that makes you want to re see the film frame by frame to see the clues you may have missed.
