ONly last for two years and you have to buy a new digital picture frame viewer |
| |
| I just got a picture frame viewer from my son. We had to get the memory cards since they were not included, but on reading the instructions it says that the internal memory will only last for two years. Now I know it was a small one (small enough to put in my purse so I can show the photos of my precious grand daughter to my friends( but why would they not make the internal memory rechargeable? Is this a case of planned obsolesce? And what happens when I want to get a large frame viewer? Will it only last two years as well? | | | | | |

| | It was a gift. And it was not on the box outside. I think I will look into a bigger one later on. | | | |

| | I do not know much about these at all. That is awful that it will only last for two years though. I think they should have made them rechargeable also. It is a money making scam. | | | | | | |

| | Yes it is. It is a small one anyway and besides I have to get a better camera as well. But that will take quite a bit of money. | | | |

| | Wow, thanks for telling me. Those picture frames are expensive and I would hope that the memory would last longer than that considering how much they cost. I am going to wait on digital picture frames for a while. I think they're going to get better and less expensive. | | | | | | |

| | At least; this was a gift. It was the one made by HP, by the way. I will have to look into a better one when I get more money, but right now I am saving for my lap top computer and to have enough money in case my husband dies (he had a stroke) and I have to wait for the insurance money to come in. | | | |

| | Are you talking about the kind on a keychain? My nephew got my sister and mom one and we were wondering how to recharge it... We thought it would recharge when they hooked it up to the computer to download the pictures. I have a frame that's the size of a 5x7 frame and it's plugged in. I thought it would last "forever" but I guess now I have to do some checking up on it. I mean, these things aren't cheap, they should last quite a long time! | | | | | | |

| | It was not the kind you get on the keychain. I looked into those, but decided that it would be a luxury. It was the kind that fits in your purse. I got it as a gift for Christmas, but I guess they did not read the pamphlet inside or did not ask the salesperson. | | | |

| | That's a shame because I'm sure it's something that you want to have around for more than 2 years. And to keep buying them is insane :-( | | | |

| | At least this fits into my purse, but I would like one for display. I guess I will have tolook into a different brand. At least the photos are on my flash drive and my computer so they're safe. | | | |

| | We have the bigger one and love it. I'd like to have more but they're like $99 for the smallest ones... | | | |

| | I have not priced this one yet, but I know both my sons have the bigger ones. But I should get a real good camera. When we bought this one, 5 mg was considered top of the line, but now we can get one that is 12 mg for about the same price. | | | |

| | That isn't a long time to last. It would seriously have me thinking of not purchasing one now for sure. I had thought about it especially since it is my mothers birthday in February. Thanks for the heads up..I guess it is their way of making people spend more and more money in the long run those don't come cheap so I am thinking they should be made to be rechargable. The big ones might offer a rechargeable setup or I should hope or it is just a waste of people money. I guess in that case pictures don't last a lifetime.. | | | | | | |

| | Well that is good to hear that the bigger ones can be recharged. I still think the little ones should be able to also. | | | |

| | You transfer the pictures from your camera or your computer onto a memory card. Then you put the memory card into the digital frame slot. You can transfer the photos into the internal memory that has demonstration photos. I took the latter out except for the instructions. This plugs into the wall to recharge it, but the internal charger does not come out and only lasts two years. And the instructions were not on the outside and it was a gift. | | | |

| | I don't have a frame viewer, though I have wanted to get one. That is strange that they only last for two years. That seems to be how things are made anymore. Throw away~ | | | | | | |

| | I bought a digital frame as a Christmas gift, for my mother. I wasn't aware it will be obsolete in two years... I even paid extra for a two year extended warranty Yipes!!! | | | | | | |

| | I think it depends on what one it is. If you bought one of those larger ones, you can probably replace the inside charger or whatever you call it, but this was a small one that cost less then fifty dollars. If you paid for a two year extended warranty it was probably one where you could replace the inside charger. | | | |

| | Does it say that the device only lasts for 2 years or the warranty is for 2 years? There is a difference. The warranty means if it is faulty within 2 years of purchase, they will repair or replace it. If not, then why on earth would people buy something that is only going to work for 2 years? It just isn't in the best interests of the companies to make things that only last 2 years. | | | | | | |
