Would you prefer to be known as your "real" self or as your alias?

What I mean is that we all use Internet a lot and with all the social networking webistes and MyLot there is a lot of nicknames and personalities to choose from. Some people might say that they are the same online and in real life but doesn't explaining your thoughts in written bring out something new in all of us? Unfortunately,we don't always have the opportunity to let the world know of our greatest ideas in the rumble and rush of everyday life, what would you prefer?

I've had a lot of trouble in the past from being too open and trusting, so these days I tend to try to keep each part of my life separate from the rest. Consequently, although I tend to use the same alias and avatar online, I rarely link things between the sites on which I write.
More recently, I've discovered that this might be a bit of a mistake, since I'm doing freelance writing: if someone likes something I wrote on HubPages, for example, there will be no links to my other work on AC or Helium or my blogs. In some ways, I've cut my own throat. I uess I just don't trust people enough to show them the whole picture of who I am. The online me is, in most ways, the same as the offline me. I'm even green and an alien.
Well, maybe not. ;)

That makes sense, otherwise you'd be accused of stealing from yourself

Take it one step further instead of writing or speaking try singing...
As for being known? I think I pretty much make that pretty clear...
Peace and Blessings,
Sincerely,

We are in the same wherever we are but sometimes we need an alter ego or a space where we can be free to express ourselves without consequences .And that is what an alias does for us ,it allows us to bring out what is internal in creative ways we would never have thought .Consequently when I go on social networking sites ,I like to use an alias so just in case I do and say something it would affect my “ real” self which is bound by certain rules of propriety in the real world. Don’t know if that means I am living a lie or I am hypocritical but I prefer to maintain my cyber personalities different from my "real" self

I don't think it's living a lie, unless you say completely opposite things to "flame" other users which you probably don't do
