It's OVER!

Thank God, the Cotton Bowl is over! Yes I live in Lubbock Texas, home of the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Yes I have one offspring who graduated from Texas Tech, but I do not think that football, on any level should pre-empt every single program on TV for a whole week! I'm obviously in the minority on that or the networks wouldn't do such a thing, but I'm just wondering if any one else out there who doesn't have cable or satalite TV is as relieved as I am.

I am relieved but for different reasons. My fiance and i spend time together on the weekends. His dad is a huge football fanatic. Its quite annoying if you see how it is. Anyways it doesn't matter if my fiance and i are watching something he will just come in there and put football on. Don't get me wrong i like football to an extent but when its the only time i get to spend with my fiance then i get a little edgy.

I agree. Well at least there was something on besides football when you could watch it. Everything was pregame this and pregame that on the networks, and I just have antenna, so it was pretty much no TV.

I have satellite and I am STILL glad it's over. With two men in the house,do you think I get to watch anything other than every single ball game that is on during all this mess? On the bright side, I have gotten a lot more work done than normal.*L*

It wasn't just the ball games though. It was special news casts and everything all day long and all the evening programming. The ball game was just one day and probably lasted a couple of hours, but there hasn't been any regular programing on for a week leading up to that game. I feel for you having two (or is that three? I know B likes football too) fb fans in the house.

We still have super bowl to go, but Lubbock doesn't go as crazy over super bowl as it does over the Red Raiders.

Oh, that sucks! Wow, and I thought pregame and post game stuff was bad.*L* Yeah, I forgot that B watches it too, but she is hardly ever here.

I'm not a big football fan whether it be college or pro. I understand what you are saying about local tv and being bombarded with games all week. We have cable so I can watch for a few minutes and then change the channel. We are season ticket holders for the Rams and they were a total embarrassment this past season. Think I went to one game at the beginning of the season. My husband went by himself even when nobody wanted to join him cause the Rams were playing so awful. I don't understand many of the rules of the game. I'd much rather spend my time watching baseball.

LOL You still are going to get Ohio and Texas tonight, plus the upcoming national championship with Oklahoma vs. FSU. I am in Oklahoma and dread trying to get out that day. Traffic will be horrible! Everyone will be going over to different places to watch it on TV.

Yep, sounds like you're going to be going through what I have been, but now with the Cotton Bowl over I've been able to get a few regular programs. As far as getting out, I just don't even try when there's a homegame. RR fans are too crazy.

I am so glad that your Cotton Bowl is over thebeaddoodler. Trust me, I understand how insane it gets when football is going on. Here we have Bayou Classic AND Sugar Bowl. I am thrilled to be able to safely walk down the street again. LOL

It sounds that american football or whatever sport it is, is popular in your country such as soccer in Europe. I receive a lot of complaints from my wife when there is the World Cup or European Soccer on television because I make sure not to miss out a single match. It is just a week so be a little understanding to those who love this sport!
