i heard this comment on tv one day and it's so true. everyone argues that marriage is for people in love and can only be real between a man and a woman. well there are lots of straight couples who aren't in love and are allowed to get married, some for convenience or arranged marriages. but it's not fair to those gay couples who are really in love who don't have the right to get married.

I am a 26 year old gay man who has been living with and in a serious committed relationship with my boyfriend since I was 20 years old. My boyfriend and I have been together, and in love for 6 years. NONE of my straught friends have been with their signifigant other for that long. I have 4 straight friends around my age whos marraige didnt even last for 2 years. HOW is it fair.... that my partner of 6 years and I cannot get married... yet my straight friends can get married, get divorced and treat their "sacred marital union" like dirt? Its not fair. People say gay marraige will ruin society. I say straight people need to take notes from gays... myself in particular. My BF and I are in love and after 6 years I know for a fact we will make it in the long run. I get so upset when my married friends get divorced. They just disregard their marriage like its NOTHING yet me and the love of my life arent even allowed to get married. It's absurd!!

i completely agree with you and feel for you. it's especially tough when you see straight people get married and the divorced like it's no big deal. but you can't even have the right to get married. it's just not fair.
