I know that when I was younger movies with the rating of R or something around that rating was something I watched occasionally. Now that I am older I see that more people are not allowing their children to watch these movies. Do you think it's because movies are more intense and gory now then they were back then, or do you think that more children are growing up faster and becoming smarter then what we were?

I am very happy parents are not letting children watch these movies. Most of the movies that come out are not kid friendly type movies. i guess that children should watch movies made for children and adults should watch movies made for adults. This is the only way that people will be comfortable in the theatrea dn with the content.

I agree they aren't kid friendly and can really scar a kid or cause a kid to grow up with very... bad intentions, but I also think that as long as the movie is a supervised movie (meaning an adult is in the room) it wouldn't be too bad. Then again, I wouldn't let my own kids watch some of these movies, knowing how my fiance and I both are.
I guess your right their's movies made for kids and for adults.

Why do you think it makes a difference if the movie is supervised?

I think what I would have said to you, bionicman, is exactly what irish has said herself. If your in the room with your child or children you can gauge their reaction to the movie as well, so that as a parent you can decide whether these types of movies are okay for whatever age your child is.

Glad you feel that way about violent movies. I appreciate the response.
