"How Can I Make $$$ Online" PET PEEVE

United States

Okay, I've got a pet peeve to vent! So many mylot members get on here asking how they can make more money online, and spilling their sob story about how they have kids, or this tradgedy happened, or this financial burden came up, etc etc. We ALL go through it at one point or another. However... Spending the time it takes to make even a few bucks on these dozens of survey sites, pay to click sites, and pay to post sites... You could have done something better! Not trying to be mean, but these sites are NOT a good way to make a ton of money. You simply won't and that's all there is to it! You might make 10-20 bucks, but that's the extent of it! You can't make a living off of these sites (unless you somehow get THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS of active referrals and spend almost your entire day posting your butt off... Seriously... and then all the people who respond to these posts, tell the person to click their links (obviously referral links...) to make money on these other sites.... Why don't you just take out a stafford loan... Apply for grants... scholarships... go to school and do something with yourself! Take online courses... Something! Mylot is nice, and I enjoy it... But I get annoyed seeing the dozens upon dozens upon dozens of posts about "Help! I need $$$" or "I'm broke! How to make $$ online?!"

I am so very happy you said this for me! I was just thinking this last night. I recall seeing a bunch of whining posts from a member that hasn't been around in quite some time. I remember this person well mostly because we did not get along very well when I first joined here and I remember their situation well. This person was complaining about their spouse losing their job and such and about how, instead of actually trying to leave home and get a part time job themselves to help make up for the income that was being lost, they're just going to sit at home all day and do things online. This person is a stay at home parent and just can't take leaving their kids for anything. It seems to me, this is one of those very important times when you should do whatever it takes, to keep a roof over your head and your children fed and that does not mean sitting at home all day working for pennies. I think some people are just lazy and would rather they have people do a lot of the work for them so they're not actually doing anything at all. I'm not well off myself but I don't go around telling people how much my life is terrible and stuff. I'm doing what I've got to do to make it with what I've got. I work, I spend time here for cash too. I'm not being lazy, I'm not working for chump change. I'm actually trying to change my situation. I'm not just coming here to complain.

Exactly. Honestly, I think part of it, is that they expect pity and maybe someone will offer them some new amazing job that they can do from home... But I'm going to say, the odds of finding something to do online that will make you a decent amount of money are against you. For every person that finds a way to make a ton of money online, there's another 9,999 people who didn't. My problem, is that if things are so hard off... Take out a stafford loan! Enroll in school and make something of yourself! That's what I'm doing! Yes, loans suck and you do have to pay them back, but they help you get through the time that you're spending educating yourself to put yourself in a better financial situation after you graduate! I don't recommend online colleges, however, many REAL colleges and universities offer online courses, which can be a GREAT option if you're unable to make it to and from class on a regular basis or have children that need watched! I just get so annoyed seeing people posting on here, expecting some magical cure all to their financial woes. Everyone has money troubles. It happens. You don't have enough for this or enough for that, or this utility got shut off or you're three months back on this one. But if it's that bad... Not to be rude... Maybe you should disconnect your internet and save money there too.

Exactly! There are plenty of ways to better yourself but many people really don't want to better themselves I think. I think they'd rather sit in their situation and stew for awhile or pray that there is a magical cure and everyone knows that there is not. The system sucks, sure. But you're not going to change anything by working for pennies on the internet. You need to do other things to change your life situation. And if that means getting off your butt, and working at Mcdonalds if things are really that terrible, then I guess you need to stop complaining and do it.

I am amazed that there are no responses here yet but it proves your point in many ways. So many of those who are trying to make a living online had the opportunity ro respond and explain their situation - toomuch like hard work to respond maybe? Many of those who start discussions like the ones you suggest have no intention of doing anything with the answers they get. They are looking for 'easy' ways to earn by doing little or nothing. Many people have been through those situations (myself included) and the ONLY thing to do is pick yourself up and get moving and DO something positive about it. Those posts are annoying and even more annoying are those who respond saying 'join here to get rich'. I feel that those who are really earning online are keeping quiet about it or are informing in a much more postive and credible manner. It all boils down to the fact that online is now exactly like offline - beggars included

you are right, mostly we get a few penny of the site and it can't count like a real job. But this is free and so easy to make a penny of it, and also there are million of people get on here and make money... how could MyLot pays you more. Like I use to say, I used to work for this site called "chacha.com" when it first start, it was really great. I make $40 a day and only 6 hours or so, but when they accept more people in, then I got pay only $20 and then it down to $10 and down more and more... I dont know where and how to get a real money online. some of my friends offer me to either site by selling stuff but I have to work under their tree; another word work under pyramid(it means they get commission from you and they dont do anything). I dont want to pay other site to work for them, that's a scam. I have a real job tho, but sometimes it is for fun to make money.

Nice to see an old discussion rejuvenated. I saw this in my "Explore" tab today... I completely agree with you, 100%. However I can think of a couple of situations where this is the only source of income for some people. People who are disabled or elderly. Yes they get some money from the government, but it's not enough to cover their usual monthly expenses. An education is pointless if they can't use it. They can't really work due to their age or disability. This is a form of work that they can do. Mother's of young kids, as I once was. Childcare is ridiculously expensive. I had more than 1 child who needed full time care, so working wasn't an option. Babysitting was also never an option because I didn't have the patience for other people's kids. I'm not good with other kids. Also we've lived in some fixer uppers and I'm just not comfortable having other people's kids in a fixer upper type of home... Also people who want more income on top of their regular job but don't have time for a second job. That's the stage I'm at now. I have a full time job that pays the bills. I'm working on saving and getting out of debt. I'd like more income. I can't get a second job without making my kids quit all their activities like band and sports, etc.. I don't have time in between running them around, and i'd need childcare for my 2 younger ones who are too young to be home alone. So my only options for added income are through online ventures. I will add that I do have a college education.. but I don't use it. I chose the wrong major and ended up not liking it. I saw it through and got my degree, but have never used it. Now I have to pay off those student loans. I like my current job, but cannot get any further training until I pay back my current loans. Someday when the kids are older I'll have more time to get another job to earn more money. Until then I have to just keep plugging away here.

But that's the thing...there is no magical cure to make money easy or fast online. I'm sure if there was, we would all be doing it! So many of these people get on here and wantt the answers that no one has and it gets so old seeing the same question (and same answers) day in and day out. I get get restrictions. It happens. But something like this can't be a full time job. Not unless you only have less than $50 in living expenses a month or something,

i kinda got tickled't this discussion. partly due to its age 'n partly coz its still goin' on. i aint figured out why so many thinks this is 'easy money', spendin' hours daily chained to electronic gadgets 'n sittin' on their backsides.

@Samanthavv the online writin' thingy's what gets me. no offense to folks, but there's few i've run 'cross that could e'en get a toe in the door where they could e'en fetch 'decent' money fer their efforts. 'tis a most saturated market 'n many lack the talent 'n dedication fer such.

I think some people genuinely need help finding an alternative earning method...something flexible and legit...they may not have the skills and resources necessary to make it through traditional means. On one hand, I see what you are saying...but on the other hand there are two sides to the story sometimes. We don't always know the full story.
