How long should the same movie play on TV

Do you ever wonder why they put the same old movies on tv all the time. It seams like once they ever put a movie on that's all that they play for a long-long time. I turned the tv on Sat. night and Men in Black was on again, and last night Greese was on again on the family channal. It's like they don't have anything else to pick from. Even at Christmas time TBS shows A Christmas Story for 24 hours before they put on anything else. The way I look at it is if you haven't seen the movie by now you don't need to see it, they need to start playing something else.
What do you think, do you think they need to change the movie that come on more often? Do you get tried of watching the same old thing on tv?

Forever. I mean movies which are best in the industry should not be banned.
On the other hand, can you count the number of movies released every year? It can't be more than 150. Now, we have 365 days in an year. Where can the TV channels find new movies every day and that too a blockbustor or a superhit movie every holiday. Its tough for them.
For me, I would like to watch certain movies like Jurrasic Park, Titanic, sound of thunder, The mummy etc every time they would show it on the TV!Happy mylotting.

I know what your talking about, the movies like Jurrasic Park and Titanic and others I could watch over again but some of the networks put the same movies on 3 0r 4 times a week. I know since the time they started making movies there should be more movie then that that they could get.

Especially that "Christmas story." I mean, even if they showed it 3 times in a row, at least I could understand, if you turn it on and it's not the beginning you have another chance or two to watch it. But back to back all day? Not only if you haven't seen the movie by now you don't need to see it, but if you haven't seen it by now and you want to see it, rent it! I also agree they don't need to show the same movie friday, saturday and sunday. Then, two months later, they'll show it again. For awhile, it seems like they were showing "as good as it gets" every week for months.

I don't know they play Christmas Story for 24 hours, to me it's not a very good movie, I could think of other a lot of other movies that would be better to play for that long that are so much better.

I sure do get tired of seeing the same movie playing for 48 hours straight. The only reason I can see why they do this is because of the high ratings they got the first time they aired it on tv? I don't work for a tv station or anything but that's just a wild guess.
Have a nice night

I think they're counting on people not sticking to the television in the same hours or not in the same channels and when they do catch the movie mid way, they'd try to look out for it and watch it from the start... But I still think you're right that they're putting it on for too long. That's why I'd prefer it if they'd flash their schedules every now and then:)
Thanks for the response on my discussion!

Yes! There is a channel here that always plays Bad Boys a couple of times a year. I can't believe that people still watch it. That is why they play these same movies, because there are plenty of people who actually want to watch these movies over and over again. I have also noticed though, that the main TV channels here seem to be playing less movies these days. Those time slots seem to be filled up with reality tv or crime shows. So I think that the few times that they do show movies, they should be showing newer ones!

That's what I talking about, there will be times when a movie will come on that I haven't seen before and I enjoy it but then I'm ready to watch something new after that. There's not really to much to watch on tv anymore except for reality tv. Sometimes I turn it on and flip through the channals and turn it right back off.

That's part of the reason I dropped HBO..the same movies over and over again. At least when I pay for cable and have alot of other channels to choose from it's not as bad...one good thing about them showing the movies over and over again is that if you miss part of it the first time you watch it...there's a good chance you'll be able to pick it up and see the part you missed. Some movies are good played over and over.....I could watch The Wizard of Oz every years.....also Gone with the wind.

I think that if they added more movies and did not play them all the time then it would not be so bad. I also get tired of the same movies on many times. I like to watch alot of different movies. There have been enough movies made that they should not have to repeat them all the time.
