Grrr! Has anyone else had trouble with their prescriptions? | | | | I almost just had a major mental meltdown over WalMart pharmacy and my insurance company! I take Lyrica for my fibromyalgia. I needed a new prescription recently and my doctor gave me one. I was sick when I had to pick it up, so my husband went for me. WalMart claimed that they had no record of my insurance! I've only been with them for years now but we've just switched over to the COBRA plan since my husband was laid off just before the new year. According to our insurance carrier (United HealthCare), I was insured from January 1st. But, on January 5, when my husband went to pick up my prescription, WalMart said they had no record of it. My husband said he'd take care of it and got me 10 of the 60 pills I should have gotten and paid cash for them... $28.68. Okay, so we THOUGHT the insurance was straightened out. Yesterday, I called WalMart to pick up the balance of that prescription, 50 pills. They once again said they had no record of my insurance. I haven't received a new card (yet) but did have all the numbers WalMart needed, so I gave them those numbers. They claimed that one of them should not have had any numbers in it at all; it should have been all letters. I told them that this was the number the insurance company gave me. They said they'd call my insurance company, then call me back. Hours went by... they never called. It was getting late, so I called WalMart back. They told me that everything was straightened out and my prescription was ready. I went and picked it up at 7:00 last night, paying an additional $30.72. When I got home, I saw that WalMart had only given me 10 more pills instead of 50! Okay, first of all, they charged me $28.68 for the FIRST 10 pills, then $30.72 for the SECOND 10 pills. What's up with that??? But, I should have received 50 pills, not 10. So, I called them this morning. Again, they're telling me they have no record of my insurance. I'm seeing red by this time! They also told me that what I paid last night was NOT an insurance co-pay. I'm like, HUH??? I told them that I was TOLD by them last night that the insurance was straightened out and I was to get the balance of my prescription, 50 pills, not 10. I told the gal to call the insurance company... again... to get this straightened out. She told me that WalMart pharmacy DOES NOT have insurance companies numbers!!! WHAT???????????? They're ALWAYS calling insurance companies!!! Finally, the actual pharmacist got on the line and said it was straightened out (once again) and that the new balance (40 pills) would be ready for me today and it would cost me $50.00, which is my co-pay for a FULL prescription of this medication! I said, no way! It was YOUR fault that I didn't get the balance last night. I'm NOT paying another $50.00! That's when I threw my phone at my husband and told him that he needed to handle this because I was ready to strangle someone! Okay... on hold again. Finally, the pharmacist told my husband that it would only cost me another $20.00 instead of $50.00. So, my one prescription of 60 pills, which should have cost me a total of $50.00, is ending up costing me $80.00!!! Can you believe this? I HOPE I don't do something rude when I go in to pick up the balance of my prescription today! Have you ever had something like this happen to you at WalMart or any other pharmacy? I want to hear your horror stories, please! | | | | | | | | | | The Endless Pool® Good For Fibromyaliga Relief. Request A Free Pool DVD Today! www.EndlessPools.com/Fibromyaliga

| | Insurance can be a real pain, can't it? COBRA is awfully expensive. Look into Aetna, I get insurance for $160 a month, cheaper than any other place I've found. And if I were you, I'd send this info to Walmart and demand some action, this is ridiculous. | | | | | | | | | | The Endless Pool® Good For Fibromyaliga Relief. | | OK this is what I call Mass Confusion. Please don't strangle anyone hun because you're on my friends list and I can't afford to loose good friends to jail time!!! This is brutal and I can feel your frustration. The right hand doesn't have a clue what the left hand has done at WalMart by the sounds of things and it's anyones' guess as to how intelligent the staff is with the insurance company. Take a few good deep breaths before approaching staff at WalMart and good luck my friend. | | | | | | | muscles4me (11361)

| | My mom has trouble with Walmart all the time. The last time she had a prescription for one of their $4 prescriptions. They did not have any they would be in tomorrow. She goes to get them, they are not in. The next day she got a call at 8 in the morning telling her they were there and ready for her. At 1 she went to pick them up and they were not ready. She waited 45 minutes to get her prescription and when they finally handed them to her the bill was $28. According to them they don't carry the one on the list. She was furious. She was totally out of her pills so she paid it and went on, but she said she was not going there for prescriptions ever again. | | | | | | | messageme (1627)

| | I have always had that happen too. They never have what I need and then they tell me they will be in the next day and they never are. It is a pain in the butt, especially when I have to drive 25 miles to the nearest walmart to get them. | | | | | | | Treat Your Fibromyalgia Questions About Fibromyalgia? | | i have always had problems with my insurance and walmart. Usually they tell me my insurance has to ok it before I could get my prescription. Which I understood the prescripion was $4,000 for a months supply, but it always turned out to be a mess!! I was so frustrated with them many many times. If I went into details I would be here all day!! At least I only had to deal with it for 9 months while I was pregnant. Now I try not to ever have to go there for anything! I hate walmart pharmacy! | | | | | | | | | | Do You Have Fibromyalgia? Top 5 Fibromyalgia Signs. What The Doctor Is Not Telling You! MindfulHealthNow.com | add comment | | | |

| | Haha. Yeah, I'm going to Costco. This was actually going to be my last refill at WalMart. It has definitely convinced me that they hire only morons behind their pharmacy counter! This store, in particular, has a really mean-spirited person working there... not the pharmacist, just a flunky. She's never smiled that I know of... not once. She talks to co-workers about her 'date' that night or whatever while customers are waiting. She won't even look at you when you're standing there, waiting for her to help you. You're right. I'm writing to the headquarters about this particular pharmacy. I mean, WalMart has always screwed up something or other concerning my prescriptions, no matter which WalMart or even which State it was in. But, I've been without insurance before and they WERE the cheapest at the time. But, I'm going to write to them today. Thank you for reminding me! I must be getting senile or something. I'm an old-time protester from way back. I called myself a 'passive activist'. I'm a letter-writer, or used to be. I've gotten things changed, too! It's time to do it again. Okay, folks... the old passive activist is BACK!!! THANK YOU for reminding me!!! | | | | mechanicNOT62 (1590)

| | That kind of attendant as you describe can be dangerous to your health even if you don't smoke! I'm used to friendlier environs and don't believe you're senile, neither of which has anything to do with the other. Be cool and not cruel, OK? All my love. | | | | mentalward (6158)

| | I tried... honest I did! To be cool, that is. When I went to pick up the remainder of that prescription (which they actually got right in the amount of pills) they were going to charge me another $50.00! I spoke quietly, but firmly. I said, "Oh, no! I am NOT going to pay $50.00! I was told I would only have to pay $20.00 and that's what I'm paying!" Once the pharmacist was called over (this gal is young and very new to WalMart) she said that she was the one who got this straightened out and I'd only have to pay $20.00 plus $.72. I had already paid $30.72 and was supposed to be charged the remainder to total $50.00. I had to tell her that, no, it would be $20.00 LESS $.72. She said, "Stop yelling at me! You're upsetting me!" Honestly, I was NOT yelling! I didn't even raise my voice. I was very firm, yes, and everyone there knew that I was very upset about this entire ordeal, but I was not yelling. I simply told her that I wasn't yelling and, if anyone had the right to be upset, it was me. She just rang up the amount, $19.28, I paid and left. That's it for me! I'm never setting foot inside that store ever again... actually I will never shop at ANY WalMart for anything ever again. I don't care if they're practically giving stuff away, I won't shop there. I know that will devastate them and WalMart will probably go under without me as a customer (NOT), but I don't care! And, yes, I did write to their headquarters. I wish I had waited so I could have told them about this latest episode in the continuing saga of THAT prescription but, oh well. I can always add it, huh? I haven't heard anything back from them yet. | | | | | | | Fibromyalgia Symptoms Learn the Common Symptoms of Fibromyalgia & New Ways to Manage Them www.knowfibro.com | add comment | | | |

| | That seems unacceptable to be and being the bull headed old lady that I am i would have read them the riot act. As you know KNOCK ON WOOD I do not need ant medications at this time (although my workouts could use a dose os anabolic steroids lol) BUT my poor mom does and hers are suppose to be mailed to her but for some reason Walgreens always gets that mixed up. They are late or send the same thing two days in a row. I told my mom to keep the wrong ones and we could drive up by (bad area) and sell them on the corner. Of course I was kidding but mom thought I had a bad idea. I would call Wal Mart back and make them bring it to you. | | | | | | | mentalward (6158)

| | I almost DID hand her the riot act! That's why I threw the phone at my husband to handle it. I can't believe how stupid some people can actually be and still function! Anyway, I'd love to get off these meds I'm on. I did stop taking one of them, Cymbalta, which was prescribed for me to help with my level of pain and sleep. (It's actually an antidepressant but helps with pain and sleep.) It's another $50.00 co-pay each month and we just have to cut corners. Besides, I take melatonin when I really need sleep and it really helps (AND is much cheaper than Cymbalta!). I just saw my rheumatologist yesterday and she wants me to start taking the Cymbalta again because my pain level has been increasing. I explained my situation to her so she gave me an armload of samples. LOL She gave me samples of Lyrica, Cymbalta and Boniva... maybe $800 worth of co-pays! Lord knows how much it would all cost without insurance! I still don't want to take them because I think my increased pain is caused by the extreme cold we've been experiencing. It got down to zero degrees last night! For us here in Virginia, that's friggin' DNA-CHILLING! It's especially bad when you have a chronic condition that causes pain. I have 3 such conditions! Anyway, I think that's why my pain level has increased so I'm not taking the Cymbalta, even though I have like 4 month's worth in that bag she gave me! Hmmm, maybe you and I should go around the sleezier sections together. We could have a VERY profitable business here! LOL (JUST KIDDING!!!!) I'd LOVE to make WalMart bring me the meds, but I highly doubt they will. I will, however, write to WalMart's headquarters about this incident, as well as some others I've experienced! (Thanks, mechanic, for reminding me that I'm a very feisty person once I get going! LOL) You know, I think it's the whole healthcare system in this country. It's all about profits, not about caring anymore. | | | | | | | Naturopathic Treatment Natural fibromyalgia symptom treatments in Irvine, California. www.simplyhealingclinic.com | add comment | | | |

| | Throw out all over the counter and prescription drugs!!! They are only making you sick and never cure you. All they do is deal with the symptoms not the problem itself. Why don't you try a magnetic comforter for the pain. Eat organic, stop taking these drugs and get the book back to eden by jethro kloss the cure for everything is in it. You have medicine in your own yard!!! For Free!!!! Do some research, Walmart gets drugs manufactured in China the same place that was caught using the yellow paint for the streets to coat pills or making fake pills so you think your getting medicine and in fact your getting drywall chalk. Think about it and good luck. | | | | | | | | | | What is Fibromyalgia Connect With Others. Read About Symptoms, Diagnosis and Treatments. FibroSupport.org | add comment | | | |

| | I really don't understand that system of private medical insurances. On this side of the Atlantic there are universal health services making all that process a lot easier. I only need a health card to get a discount on medicines. Most of them are sold at reduced prices and are free for pensioners. If you are traveling inside the EU no matter what country you come from you can use your European health card to get the same benefits as locals. | | | | | | | mentalward (6158)

| | You are so fortunate! I think I'm moving to the other side of the Atlantic! Our health care system in this country SUCKS!!! It's horrible. People die because they don't have health insurance here and can't afford to go to a hospital or even a doctor! Our doctors and hospitals wouldn't even THINK of reducing their fees to anyone; they just turn them around and march them out the door. Or, even if they do have health insurance, the insurance companies are profit-making companies now and don't care about the people they're covering... all they care about is more profits. They will tell a terminally ill patient, suffering from cancer, that they won't pay for their medical treatment because it's not deemed (by them) to be life-threatening! It is horrible, and that word doesn't even begin to describe our health care system in this country. It's despicable the way our government allows the health insurance companies to get away with turning down very sick people. Whatever happened to the hippocratic oath? Most companies will NOT cover you if you're already sick! When you NEED them, they turn you away. These are not people working for them, they are robots, programmed to turn down as many people or services as they can. Sorry about the rant. This is one of my biggest peeves with our country. Being in a recession now has a lot of people unable to eat properly, therefore more and more are getting sick. I honestly think our government WANTS us all to die. America the Great??? No, America sucks! (Yes, I was born and raised here... American all the way, but I can't stand our government.) Is there any room where you live?
