| | As cliched as it may seem, my favorite is still "The Tell-Tale Heart". I think it's because it was my first exposure to Edgar Allan Poe. I was assigned the short story early on in school. I loved the story and was so caught up in its rhythm (that beating heart!). We used to read-aloud in class, as well, and everyone's interpretations as they read made it even more captivating. In his poetry, I enjoy "The Raven". It, too, is very "musical". | | | | | | |

| | I liked "The Fall of the House of Usher" and "The Raven". I haven't read any of the ones you mentioned. I'll have to look for them. | | | | | | |

| | Hello, Bd! "Some words with a mummy" is not too known, maybe because it's not a horror tale. It's more like humoristic, I'd say. But it's very good! And "The black cat" is a very scary short story. And a very good one too! | | | |

| | Favorite Poe poem would be Annabel Lee. For someone who writes such scary stories, he can pen romantic ones too. Dedicated to his child-bride, Annabel Lee is a beautiful poem about a love that was lost but will not be forgotten. Just a few lines from the poem that I can actually quote from memory... "For we love with a love That was more than love I and my beautiful Annabel Lee" "For the moon never beams, Without bringing me dreams, of my beautiful Annabel Lee." | | | | | | |

| | Hiya, Wayz! Lovely poem indeed! There's a very good version in spanish, in fact, its a song! The band is "Radio Futura" and the song is, of course, Annabel Lee. Maybe you'd like to listen to it -I really enjoy listening to poems I love in other languages, even if I don't understand the words, I enjoy listening to the rythm :) | | | |

| | Hiya, Crimsonladybug. I think it's very interesting what you say about horror readers. I do like Lovecraft's stories, but I prefer Poe's, too. :) | | | |

| | Hello raxxie! Edgar Allan Poe was one of the great story teller. Although he made a lot of bad decision in his life especially of drinking alcohol. I actually love most of his stories. I love the Cask of Amontillado because the story is unexpected. I couldn't believe thay the Character of the story could do and kill his friend. I am glad that you still remember his birthday. | | | | | | |

| | Hiya, Aisaellis. About Poe's life, recent studies seem to proof that he wasn't the drunkard some critics wanted us to believe. The writer who edited his works after Poe's passing, Rufus Wilmot Griswold, was also his biggest enemy and now it's known that he modified facts at Poe's biography so people would despise and forget him. It seems all his hate and lies were in vain :) Maybe one day we'll discover the truth about Edgar Allan Poe. Meanwhile, we have his awesome tales and poems. | | | |
