Do you watch your register recipts for errors? I was shopping the other day and I bought a laundry basket because there was a sighn that said they were on sale for $5.19. When I went through the checkout it came up as $8.99. I dont usually complain, but as tight as money is right now I went back in to get my $4.and change back and the manager had a cashier do a price check and said it might be because the basket I bought was not white, but cream collored. what? $4. for color? anyway the actual price was $5.19 and I did get my money back. This happens quite often. I have been told it is because of the scanners and the way they have to change the data in the computers and it doesnt allways get done right.

yea, I said if it costs $4. extra for the cream colored basket I will take the white one. I mean it is just a laundry basket it doesnt really need to be pretty. lol.

Sometimes I do check the receipt if I find that the bill is too high and doesn't tally with the quantity of good purchased. Checking item by item and so far I have not being overcharged. If I would have been in your shoe I would have done the same.

that is good that you have never been overcharged. Alot of times in k-mart I feel like the total is way higher than I expected but when I check it is usually right.

With the small quantity of goods in the trolley and the big amount I paid arouse my curiosity to check the receipt of payment only to find out the price of goods have skyrocketed and the value of currency is so weak that so little goods with so much money used is no longer shocking.

I check my receipts too, you have to, Every penny counts these days. I try to keep an eye on it when the cashier rings me up, but sometimes you can't. I have made it a habit to check my receipt before leaving the store, that way if I am overcharged I can get my money back.

I don't do this.. I don't usually bother about it.. but my husband does.. He always checks the receipt and also when the person scans the prices in..
Yes, at times they do have errors in the receipt..and it's much easier if you catch it while their doing so.. sure it'll annoy the other people waiting in the shopping line... but it's your consumer right to make sure that the companies are not cheating your money and not simply putting tags on the item and charge you more than what it says in the tags..

Yes I keep my receipts not only to check prices but also to make sure i was billed the correct amount on my reward card. I also coupon and rebate so i save them to keep track of the best deals and when the best time to stock up on what is. A lot of my local stores if the item rings up wrong will give it to you for free.

I do try to pay attention while I'm in the store, but can't always because I have my son with me, and he demands my attention. I do check later on, though, and have found some mistakes. I usually shop with my debit or credit card, so I can usually just call the store and they can credit my card over the phone. If it's not a huge amount and I paid cash, I sometimes don't bother because it's more trouble than it's worth. But even small amounts can add up, so maybe I should go back for it.

small ammounts do add up and it seems these stores are doing more and more often. It's not even the little corner market it's the big money companies like walmart or price chopper. We work hard for our money. have a good night.

I myself do not do this very often. However, when I used to go shopping with my dad, who is very observant of these things, it happens all the time. One of the stores we shopped at even has a policy that if your item comes up on the scanner and your receipt wrong you get if for free. This is a great idea, in my opinion cause they are wrong a good amount of the time and who doesn't like free stuff.
We were shopping one day at a store that gives you the item for free. My dad found real cheap cans of organic vegetables he really wanted, so he bought about thirty of them. Every single one came up wrong on the scanner, so we ended up getting about thirty dollars of canned vegetables for free. It was an interesting experience to say the least. But with this much money at stake I am considering to start checking my receipts, especially at stores like these.

yes, I dont usually complain expecially if it is just like 20 cents or something but I have started to notice that it happens alot and that adds up fast. I would like the stores to have the policy if it rings up wrong it is free that would be even better!
