I know from another discussion I started that most of you are not seeing lower prices or special offers. Maybe this is just a Southern thing. I just wish I lived closer to this guy's restaurant, I'd eat there often. He's offering his own stimulus package to say thank you to his valued customers. I know from a friend who frequents his restaurants, he is a wise businessman. He owned the restaurant where George Clooney chose to eat most of his meals while making the movieThe Leatherheads It was quite an upscale restaurant where the upper class wannabees ate a lot because the upper class chose to eat there frequently. With the economic spiral, the wannabees could no longer afford to eat there regularly, so he's remodeling his restaurant & reopening with just a little lower scale theme. His upper class patrons have already indicated they'd follow him into his newly formed restaurant because they know he will still have the food they love. The wannabees have indicated the will be patronizing the new place as they liked the way they were treated in the old place. Some who have never visited his old place have indicated they will be going because they have heard rave reviews of his restaurants. All this seems to be working as now in this depressed economy, his restaurants are packed. Now he's giving $25.00 off on 2 meals....every month for this year. $300.00 off is nothing to turn your nose up at...especially when the food is good. I find this man to be a brilliant businessman. Just look at all the FREE publicity he is receiving. Free advertising is always a GREAT idea!!! Have you seen anything of this magnitude in your area??? If not, you might want to print this story out & mail it to your favorite restaurant suggesting they try a similar idea. Would you be more likely to eat at this restaurant where you are getting a gift every month as a thank you from the owner??? He is also smart enough to be there & available every time the door opens in his main restaurant to personally greet his guests. Are any of you as impressed with this man as I am??? Why or why not???

Call me cynical but is this an entirely philanthropical gesture? Sounds like "buy one get one free" in different clothes to me. We have a lot of restaurants that do this kind of thing here. Maybe it's because of that that I can't get quite so excited. That said, he doesn't have to do it and if he brings in a few more customers keeping himself and his staff and suppliers in business then good on him.

OK.......you're cynical P1key!!!
Practically EVERY restaurant in town has a buy one, get one free offer. They are sitting almost empty every night. I cannot say that you are wrong. However, his packed house every night says what he is doing is new & innovative in the minds of his clientele. I learned as a young girl, it's not what you give people, it's what you make them think they are getting that counts!!!

I agree. Customer Service has become a lost art. Some companies still call it Customer Service but there us NO Customer Service to it. This man truly appreciates his customers & is willing to forgo the Almighty dollar in order to bring in the Almighty dollar through a form of appreciation. I know the next time I get over that way, I'll be eating in his restaurant.
