Newbies Vs Oldies |

I dont know about you guys but when I tell people I listen to country, I mainly get wierd looks..people think I listen to Kenny \rogers, Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton and that's viewed as being 'uncool' but here's the thing...I do...but I also like Kieth urban, Reba, Brooks and Dunn, Blake Shelton, Dixie Chicks, Sugarland...I could go on and on but I am sure you get the idea.. Anyways...my question is this? what's better? the old classics or the new 'pop' country? let the detae commence!=)

It is all a matter of personal choice. I listen to old stuff, new stuff and stuff that it seems no one likes but me. When people walk into my home...they never know what sort of music will be playing but guaranteed that almost always there is music of some sort.

2. Inklings (864) | 1 year ago | I like both new country music and the classics. Dolly Parton is and was wonderful (what beautiful voice!) and my favorite country singer of all time is Don Williams. My husband and I went to see him in concert every year until he retired a few years ago. I still miss seeing him live!

| JoleneL (3) | 1 year ago | Oldies, new stuff... doesn't matter, it's all great! I love all music... country, pop, R&B, jazz, rock & roll (old and new), alternative. When I hear the new artists I know that they were inspired by an oldie out there somewhere. Myself, one of my favs is Patsy Cline, she was an inspiration to LeAnn Rimes I think. And I also love Don Henley, Barbara Streisand, Celine Dion, George Thorogood, Stevie Wonder and some of the new "hip hop" artists! My mood usually chooses the artist for me!

| cassia82 (31) | 1 year ago | yeah! I love Dolly! she looks great too! When we were at ft campbell, we got salot of the newer stars come for live shows...nothing beats seeing the music live, getting absorbed into the atmosphere! you could always go see someone else..i know its not the samebut you never know, seeing thm live and feeling the energy of the crowd..nothing beats that buzz! Ty for your comment!=)

3. bookreadermom08 (1848) | 1 year ago | definitely to each is own....but what you like is what makes you happy when you hear it...
for me, I prefer the newbies vs the "old country classics"... todays country has a new beat to it and I like it... we only have 2 country stations here and they tend to do oldschool country..but then I just turn it to the other station...LOL

4. KatieDidit (887) | 1 year ago | It's funny they are both distinctly country but they are very different almost like two different genre's.
Kinda like Elvis Presley's rock and roll was very different than Bob Segars which is very different from Bono.
I wouldn't trade my old country for the new country but fortunately I don't have to.
When I'm feeling nostalgic I can listen to Eddie Arnold, Marty Robbins, Patsy Cline, Donna Fargo. When I'm not I can listen to Clint Black, Rascal Flats, Shania Twain.

| 5. steelwater (97) | 1 year ago | the old country music was known for its beautiful lyrics and vocals, the new country music is known for its beat, and quality productions and also great voices, although they still write great lyrics, the newer songs now are not as memorable as the old ones, they both old a new shine and complement each other.

6. playwright82 (131) | 1 year ago | I get the samr response when I tell people I listen to country. Or they say, "Really? How can you listen to that?" I like some older songs but mostly I like the newer stuff. I guess depends on the artist, the time period, or both.

7. marcialoyd (1072) | 8 months ago | When I was growing up I listened to Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, and Tammy Wynette and my friends teased me about it. I didn't care though. I like all artists both old and new. They each have their own uniqueness. My personal favorite is Reba. Years down the road todays artists will be considered "uncool" to. Its a never ending cycle. lol.

| cassia82 (31) | 7 months ago | I get the same thing....but reba rocks! i went to a brad paisley concert last month and he was incredible! i guess its about a balance btween the two...besides, so many of the newer ones have aspects of the older, more 'classic' stars stlye as thats who they model themselvees on and admire!
