it is true that music nowadays is different from music before but it is what it is. if music doesn't change, then it wouldn't evolve or other genres wouldn't exist. true, there are acts out there nowadays that do nothing but sellout (i.e. pop music) but you should give credit to indie artists. those artists that are unsigned and are not very popular. there are a lot of them that has something to say. although there are some good pop acts today, in actuality, more indie artists are more talented than those acts that we see or hear everyday. and hey, you're not getting old. times are changing. everything changes. and along with it comes music. it's a way of keeping itself alive despite the changes. music may be universal, but it is still subjective. music exists in one way or another and maybe if you look close enough, you'll see something good. heck, you can always see/hear something better than those popular artists. maybe you're not just looking at the right places. :)

Some of those bands are still around :) But I agreee with you, music isn't the same any more. Today everything is pop music pretty much no matter which genre you look at. Too bad :(

Are you referring to the synthetic sounds of the 80's? The keyboard guitar, and the drum pads. I didn't hear much music in the 80's other than wailing guitars, and screaming dudes dressed like ladies. Except for the occasional axel rose coming down on stage playing a piano routine. But I get your point. Its changed. Music was a struggle. It meant something. Now everything is cookie cutter. So many disney bands out there. They're told what to wear, and what to sing.
