What Is One Of Your Favorite Comfort Foods When You Are..... |
|
.......Sick? Feeling like do-do ca-ca poo-poo? For about a week now I just haven't been feeling too keen...uh, to put it mildly. I've been having one of my bouts of bronchitis again...not too severe but still making me feel lousy. My energy level has been zip, can't think, having serious brain fog. As soon as I started feeling lousy and getting that twinge of bronchitis I started taking a bit more of that herb Echinacea, more Vit-C and dosing myself with garlic pills since garlic is a natural antibiotic. I still haven't gone to my docs since I have to practically be at death's door before going to one....LOL....also have that same attitude my great-grandmother had who was a nurse and thought all docs as idiots, never took anything stronger than aspirin in her life, was into natural remedies and lived to be 98
But I have noticed something when I'm sick....now yes, I'm a good cook, love cooking and can make a lot of great homemade soups...and do while I'm sick...but what do I long for and eat a lot of while sick? My favorite comfort food..what is it you ask? Good old Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup---I could eat this by the gallon ...Yes, it's a "processed" canned food, loaded with salt, salt, salt, and yes it has MSG (mono sodium glutamate)..but I love it...this is definitely my comfort food when I'm sick...perhaps memories of my childhood as that's what I would have when I was sick as a kid.
So when you're sick...what is YOUR comfort food? Even if it's something that may not exactly be the healthiest for you like a processed food rather than a homemade one. Do you turn to good old Campbell's soup too? Doesn't have to be the Chicken Noodle kind either, but do you?
Just what is it about that Campbell's Chicken Noodle soup anyway? Mmmm...mmm...good...mmmm..mmmm...good

22. mibngold (1525) | 11 months ago | Wow, it seems like everyone is getting sick. I really don't have a comfort food but oddly enough, when I get bronchitis, smoking makes me feel better. It makes my throat feel better for some reason. I also like to drink a lot of gatorade & diet coke! Hope you feel better soon!

24. muru1950 (583) | 11 months ago | Hi pyewacket
I am comfortable with my traditional south Indian food "Idli" when I am sick. This food is made of rice and some lentils, battered, fragmented and cooked in steam. This is very easily digestible by any patients of any age.
I am sorry to hear that you suffer from bronchitis again.
As bronchitis is caused by viral infections in most of the cases,I hope you are also suffering from bronchitis due to viral infection only.So this will be a temporary discomfort. And nothing wrong if you don't visit a Doctor.
Any home treatment is fine to relieve your discomfort.
So the chicken noodle soup which you take is a very fine choice by you. That will surely help to keep you well hydrated. So that your lung secretions will be thinner and easier to clear.
I feel that you have inherited your grand mother's attitude regarding treatment by a doctor.
I wish you also follow the natural remedies of your grand mother and live healthy as long as your grand mother lived.
All the best for a quick recovery.
Happy mylotting.

28. tamarafireheart (12504) | 11 months ago | Hi pye,
Oh! yes I do love Cambell's chicken noodle soup to, when my mother used to have flu, she would only eat this rice broth which she taught me how to cook, rice chichen and spring onins in it and a pich of salt, well you fry onions garlic and giger first before you add the rest, so its is a lovely thich chichen broth and I had to make that everytime she felt ill, mum used to give that when I was ill as well, it a good recovery food, but since my mother died and when I am not well I long for that and my hubby is useless so I can't have that, so now I make them up and put them in the freezer and when ever I am unwell I get up and and defrost it and reheat it, its perfect. Hope you are feeling better.
Bright Blessings. Tamara
