What Is One Of Your Favorite Comfort Foods When You Are..... |
|
.......Sick? Feeling like do-do ca-ca poo-poo? For about a week now I just haven't been feeling too keen...uh, to put it mildly. I've been having one of my bouts of bronchitis again...not too severe but still making me feel lousy. My energy level has been zip, can't think, having serious brain fog. As soon as I started feeling lousy and getting that twinge of bronchitis I started taking a bit more of that herb Echinacea, more Vit-C and dosing myself with garlic pills since garlic is a natural antibiotic. I still haven't gone to my docs since I have to practically be at death's door before going to one....LOL....also have that same attitude my great-grandmother had who was a nurse and thought all docs as idiots, never took anything stronger than aspirin in her life, was into natural remedies and lived to be 98
But I have noticed something when I'm sick....now yes, I'm a good cook, love cooking and can make a lot of great homemade soups...and do while I'm sick...but what do I long for and eat a lot of while sick? My favorite comfort food..what is it you ask? Good old Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup---I could eat this by the gallon ...Yes, it's a "processed" canned food, loaded with salt, salt, salt, and yes it has MSG (mono sodium glutamate)..but I love it...this is definitely my comfort food when I'm sick...perhaps memories of my childhood as that's what I would have when I was sick as a kid.
So when you're sick...what is YOUR comfort food? Even if it's something that may not exactly be the healthiest for you like a processed food rather than a homemade one. Do you turn to good old Campbell's soup too? Doesn't have to be the Chicken Noodle kind either, but do you?
Just what is it about that Campbell's Chicken Noodle soup anyway? Mmmm...mmm...good...mmmm..mmmm...good

I love cooked pasta with butter and parmesan cheese; nothing else, no sauce, nothing just heaps of butter and cheese. It is a real comfort food from childhood. I'm sure it is very bad for you all that butter but I really love it and so does m daughter.

MY favorite remedy is chocolate ice cream and I usually have a bowl or two before going to bed.
MY wife never said anything to me about this so I never stopped using the stuff.
Now that I am above the teen years I find it even more tasty than I did back in the good old days.
In fact that is what I am going to have right now.
See you later.
Crocket.

84. nornik (189) | 11 months ago | well as for me when i am sick I normally don't feel like having anything. food makes me want to throw up when I am sick. Most of time when I am sick i take a lot of 100 plus drink. it energizes my body and keep me more good. Bottom line I don't take anything much just a bit of porridge.

86. quinnkl (1466) | 11 months ago | I too like soup when I am not feeling well. Good old hot soup! Can be campbell's but good ole homemade is always better! I am not a big campbell's chicken noodle soup eater anymore... maybe got too much of it when was broke and living on my own when I was young? But my comfort food is definitely soup and maybe pasta!

89. Bd200789 (1969) | 11 months ago | I always turn to Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup, too. I don't know what is in it, but it always make me feel better. I've been sick for a few weeks now, and I hate taking medicine, but I finally gave in and took some. It didn't do much good, so I'm back to chicken soup and echinacea. I hope you feel better soon.

90. hdjohnson (1174) | 11 months ago | Darn I share it here? Favorite all time comfort food is actually a snack, it's the little miniaturized "Hershey's Mr. Good Bars!"
I know it's not good for me, but I haven't had them in over 2 months. I purchased a bag of the variety pack of the Hershey flavored bars, and the only one I don't particularly like is the rich dark Hershey's, talk about blah!! Yuck!!
Okay, so my cheer me up snack food is out the bag, thanks for that pyewacket!
Hope my answer qualified for your discussion. Happy mylotting!
