|  Someone help me, help me please. One of the things on my bucket list is to learn how to ride a motor scooter. My research has shown me that my best bet would be a scooter in the 150 cc range. It will at least go 45mph in town. That's pretty much all I need. I will take my car if I need to go into the city.
So now I'm looking at all these scooters and there's Chinese Scooters, which some say are poorly made, there's the Vespas, the Eagle Sporty (which I'm very interested in), and the list goes on and on. Now the Honda's and others are very expensive scooters. Way, way, to far out of my price range.
So someone tell the best inexpensive scooter out there that a 51 year old woman could ride?

| |  yes I would love to have a scooter as well, they look pretty easy to ride.I believe you can take a class to learn.

| |  First of all,what do you consider inexpensive for a scooter?
My husband's had a couple of scooters. One of his favorite is his Aprilia. Even though it is only a 50cc he souped it up so the top speed is 70 or 80 mph. He has since moved up to a motorcycle so he has no use for this scooter, though I'm thinking of getting my permit so I can ride it.
Aprilia has a 125 scooter that has a top speed of 55mph. The MSRP on it is $2899. But remember, just because it is listed as this price doesn't mean the dealership can't be talked down to a lower price. If they are desperate enough they might just be willing to give you a killer deal!

There's a lot of Chinese Scooters out there that are really inexpensive. I've heard they are cheaply made and break down a lot. Do you know anything about those? | | | |

Chinese scooters are hard to service here in the US. Mechanics here don't want to deal with them. So if any problems do arise, it's either fix it yourself or trash it.
You might want to look at some of the motorcycle shops in your area that offer scooters that can be purchased through them for they service the bikes that they sell.
Do they sell the Eagles at a motorcycle shop in your area? If so, ask about servicing for this scooter. If they do, it might be a wise purchase choice. | | | |

| |  I have been thinking about getting one of these myself for travel close to home. It would certainly save me some money on gas. I don't know if I could ride it to work or not though. I drive fourteen miles one way to work, but a lot of the roads I travel to work are not very scooter-friendly. I could definitely use it for trips close to home, though. I will probably start using my bicycle again for trips to the store now that the weather here will be warming up soon. I have a couple of stores close to home that I can travel to by bicycle pretty easily as long as most of the things I need will fit into my backpack. I am probably going to get a basket to put on the front of it so that I can carry a few larger items as well. I like to ride my bike, so I take it to the store whenever the weather permits.

| | I found two scooters I like and have made my choice. Both are listed at ATVdiscounter.com. The first one was the Eagle Sporty 150 cc. It gets 70-80 miles to the gallon and supposedly can go up to 55 mph max. speed.
The other is the Euro 150. It's a three wheeled scooter. You can find it on the same site. This is the one I believe I'm going to get. I have to save up the money first. | | | |
