AAAhhh moving day! Or should I say days, weeks or even months. Moving is such a life altering experience. Frustrating, exciting, sad, hard work, fun work, expensive, both happy and sad at the same time. We are going through this and I can't find anything and I feel so unnerved. I like my things right where they are supposed to be and when they are not I start to feel anxious. Especially if this is the case for an extended period of time. Anyone moved lately? Anyone have any ideas on how to make this easier?

I hate moving. I have moved so much in my life though that I have gotten real good and fast at it. Last time we moved we moved a 5 bedroom house out and into storage in 1 day!!!!!!!

I understand all of the emotions that go with moving, I'm in the middle of getting ready to move now. I usually start with going through every room, closet, attic, etc. sorting and getting rid of things I no longer use or want. Secondly, I pack all the things I won't be needing, things normally stored for seasons, etc. And labeling each box as I go. My files, papers, and personal things I don't pack until the last week or last few days. I also love the over-sized ziplock bags, for towels, t-shirts, bedding, etc. I like those better than trash bags, you can see what is inside, and you can label as to what room they go in. Keeping a planner and 'running' to do list also helps me.

hi dev. we have not had that experience at home but i have experienced it in my work place where we have to move or renovate the place. it is so taxing when you have to take all your things and put them in a box hoping you can find them whenever you need it but it ain't gonna happen, from my experience. the best thing is to just let it slide and relax because your life would be in a stand still until you get your things out of the box and arrange them in a place where it is suppose to be.it is so easy putting everything in a box, getting them back to where they belong would take a lifetime.

Hi devideddi! I haven't moved in many years, but I do know how upsetting and unnerving it can be! I had to pack up my apartment just to have it painted and I was crazy because things were in boxes and I couldn't find the things that I needed! It is difficult when your home is in an uproar! But, you have to think about how nice it will be when you are all settled again! Just keep trying to think about that and maybe it will make it just a little bit easier!

Ugh! I HATE moving!! I'm still not completely unpacked from the last time I moved. Two years ago! I honestly still have a few boxes stuffed in the closets and a couple on the dining room table (that is obviously never used) that still need unpacking. It's terrible, I know. And I really do have legitimate excuses for not unpacking before now. ha ha. As far as making it easier...aside from hiring a moving company, I don't know. At least you're not pregnant! It seems like every time I get pregnant I have to move. With my oldest daughter I moved a month before she was born, my 2nd I moved a couple months before she was born and with my son I moved when I was still in the first few months of pregnancy. But, man! Talk about a pain in the behind...I don't envy you at all. Hope you have a happy move! Better you than me. LOL!

I am like you I like to know where my things are, and if they aren't there, it upsets me. We moved unexpectedly when I was 8 months pregnant into a high risk pregnancy and only had a 3 days to get our stuff packed up and moved out, it was a mess. I couldn't do anything, and it made things so stressful... What I did find that helped me, as making sure as things got moved in to the new house, it was put in the right room for later unpacking. Making sure things are marked, ALL over the boxes, so when you, your family, or anyone else is helping you move they can see it clearly and be able put it in the right spot. This takes up extra time while packing, but you could label your boxes with everything that is in the box so you know exactly what box things are in. It takes the extra time while packing, but when your in distress looking forsomething this will save you from getting upset and anxious.

When I moved, I marked each box for which room it was to go in. That made it much easier. I also took that time to get rid of things that I didnt want to keep. I also packed box's that wernt too heavy for me to move. I didnt overload the box's. I used trashbags to move towels and linens. Hope these ideas help. Best of luck!

I've moved a LOT, but I think I'm done for a long time. My last move was two years ago, and everything was a shambles. The best thing I did was packing all the things I use frequently in plastic totes that I could get to easily. Those were the only things left when we loaded the truck, and they were the first things to come back off the truck into our new place. It was easier to distinguish them because the rest of the packing I did was in banana boxes. In the twenty-seven or so moves I've done in my life, I can honestly say it doesn't ever seem to get any easier.
