Do you used to read a book on bed | | I am habituated in reading book on bed while going to sleep. I have heard of two different opinion on reading book before going to sleep, first is for good sleep quit the habit of reading any book other wise that may affect your sleeping while on bed you mind goes on roaming with it the second one is reading a good book i mean some knowledge based or spiritual types book can help you in having good sleep, it concentrate and focused the mind hence positive thoughts may lead you sleep better.
Whats your opinion

The side table lamp might give ample light but it's dim light. So apparently it does harm one's eye sight.

doc_alma_jones (124) | 11 months ago | reading in bed is not bad for the eyes if your light source is not compromised.
if you are still getting enough light while you read lying down, it's alright to do so.
and when you read with dim light, it doesn't exactly cause myopia or hyperopia (in other words, it won't cause you to need glasses). reading with a dim light can only cause asthenopia, or eye fatigue.
the retina isn't "damaged" by dim light. your eye muscles just get tired from squinting in the dark.

| | 6. crimsonladybug (1992) | 11 months ago | I've heard that you are not supposed to have anything in your bedroom but your bed (and dresser, normal "bedroom" furniture). You aren't supposed to have books or a television - the bedroom should be for sleep and sleep alone. But that doesn't really work too well when you live in a dormitory where everything you own is confined to a 12 foot by 12 foot box or share an apartment with rowdy roommates and the only option you have for "alone time" is locking yourself in your room.
I've been in both situations and I can't see that having a television and books and desk and computer, etc. etc. etc. in my bedroom has affected my sleep. Currently, when I go to bed, I turn on a DVD of Pink Panther cartoons (averaging 6-7 minutes each) and generally by the third or fourth episode I am fast asleep.

doc_alma_jones (124) | 11 months ago | um, like i said in a comment in this same discussion, reading in the dark doesn't cause myopia or hyperopia (refraction errors). it won't cause you to need glasses. it does cause asthenopia, or eye fatigue, which goes away eventually.
reading in the dark doesn't "damage" the eyes. your muscles just get tired from squinting in the dark. but eventually, those "sore muscles" abate and your vision is still as is.
somehow, there's a myth circulating that reading while lying down or reading in the dark will cause you to have refraction errors (in other words, you will need glasses). but that's what it is: a myth.
so go ahead, read away!:D
