Do you ever feel way ahead of a Green Idea and wonder what took so long?

When I started my current job, one thing they did was print the phone list for the entire building and distribute the 20-40 or so page list to each and every employee. The silly thing is, the list is also online where we can easily search for anyone in the building. Well everytime I got my copy (it was updated every 6 months or so), I took out the staple and put it directly in my recycle bin. I thought it was a total waste of paper and effort and wondered why they heck they printed these out! Well in the last year or so, our company has started "going green" and one of the ways to go green was not to print this anymore. They actually send out an email that the list is updated online and where to access it and they have to mention it is part of "going green". I just think it's funny because I thought this years ago was wasteful and I wonder what took them so long to figure it out! I didn't initially even think about how not-green it was, I was just annoyed in general to get a stack of papers I would NEVER use. There are other things I still notice at work and outside of work that are wasteful useless things, and I wonder when people will finally catch on. Do we need a state order to "go green" before my city stops leaving newspapers I don't want on my driveway 3 times a week? Do you find it frustrating when you see these easy ways to go green being ignored? Does it bug you when people finally start to "get it" yet they act like it was they came up with the idea on their own?? A lot of green things are common sense, so I don't know why it seems to be a big revelation sometimes when a suggestion finally gets taken seriously.
