What do you think of exorcism? Do you believe that human can be possessed by some kind of demon? I don't but it still makes me wonder. Today I've seen a movie called "Exorcism of Emily Rose". It was inspired by the real exorcism of Annelise Michel. They really overdid everything in the movie to make it more interesting and scary. I've heard there's also a German movie called Requiem that covers the same topic but it's much more realistic. It's about her life before exorcism and the film ends just prior to the exorcisms beginning. Here's the real story:Annelise Michel was a was a German Catholic woman who died (1976) because of exorcism. Her parents were devout Catholics and she grew into a deeply religious person. She was sixteen when she was diagnosed as epileptic. She stayed in the hospital for some time but her condition hasn't improved. Having centered her life around devout Catholic faith she thought her illness is demonic possession and asked the church to perform exorcism on her. On July 1, 1976 Anneliese Michel died in her sleep by the malnutrition and dehydration that resulted from almost a year of semi-starvation during the rites of exorcism. After an investigation the state prosecutor maintained Anneliese's death could have been prevented even one week before she died. He charged all four defendants— Pastor Ernst Alt and Father Arnold Renz as well as the parents— with negligent homicide for failing to call a medical doctor. Before the court, the doctors claimed the woman was not possessed, although Dr. Richard Roth, who was asked for medical help by Father Alt, allegedly said after the exorcism he witnessed on May 30, 1976 that "there is no injection against the devil, Anneliese". The defense played tapes recorded at the exorcism sessions. Both priests said that she was finally freed by exorcism just before she died. Ultimately, the accused were found guilty of manslaughter resulting from negligence and were sentenced to a six months suspended sentence and three years probation. I've also find the original tape recording from this exorcism. It's pretty creepy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4n9vK0_mdk Funny thing is that my light bulb exploded just when I pressed play. It freaked me out a bit hehe. Poor girl. Do you think she was really possessed or it was case of mental illness? Do you think it would end differently if she'd stayed in the hospital?

Some possessions are mental illness and who knows in Emily's case. My sister believes in exorcism, she had a friend who was possessed and got exorcised and she believes she saw the evil leave his body and that he was different while he was possessed and that he went back to normal afterward. Since my sister is in no way a crazy fanatic of any type, I tend to believe her, I believe possession could happen even though I have not witnesses it myself.

I believe in controlling one's mind. May be this is the case in those possessions. Or it's the hallucination of the 'possessed'. Otherwise, generally I don't believe in such possessions.

There are actually many accounts of exorcism. I would have to see it for myself in the flesh to actually believe. I have seen some weird stuff in my life so why not exorcism?

A person can be possessed by an invisible entity, and exorcism is true but not in all cases. A possessed person does not know that he/she is under some sort of control by another being. I have seen exorcism being performed, and I have also been involved in a few cases. The victim will sometime speak in a completely different voice. The mannerism may change. The physical strength is increased several times. Those doing the exorcism need to watch out for any tricks because the demons can hoodwink those around him/her. In the case of the girl she was most probably not possesed. She could have needed some counselling and spiritual guidance. In an exorcism there is no need to starve the victim, and it should not take months, at ;east this has always been the case that I have met.On the other hand I may be wrong. all the best, rosdimy
