What would persuade you buy a new car NOW? under current circumstances?

As the global financial problems continue, car industry is suffering bitterly with new car sales down over 35%. So now, in the current economic climate, what would persuade you to buy a new car? Chinese people are still in their high spirit of buying cars, first-hand or second-hand, including me. Well for me, I would buy an imported car if the price were similiar or a little bit higher than domestic cars. But I guess, our government would not let such things happen because they want to protect their own car industry and they are afraid of international competition ! As a result, we are paying an extreme high price for badly-designed, solo-functioned cars.
