Economic Plan

I listened to President Obama's press conference last night. When he talks about his economic plan it sounds good and reasonalbe, like it might just work. But I have always felt that the government should keep its nose out of private business. Economies cycle, they have ups and downs, and I wonder if we should just ride the roller coaster instead of trying to "fix" everything. Well, what do you think about this economic plan? Will it save us?

Personally I think we do need a Stimulus Economic plan to help out the Economy and restore jobs and such. I am not sure how much this Bill can help out, but it is a good idea in theory. I know for one though some of the things will not benefit me really, but if it can help stimulate and create more jobs and such, then this is Good for sure. All I know is the way things are going, and the job losses are happening nothing can really happen too soon.

We definitely need more jobs right now. If the bill can do that, then great. I just hope it doesn't cause more inflation (my hubby says it will).

You beat me! I was just getting ready to start the same discussion :-) I missed the press conference but saw some of the analysis. I just am not optimistic about this spending bill. It will definitely help in some sectors but not overall. I think by mid-summer there will be a revolt against this plan as people begin to see its overall ineffectiveness, but I hope I am wrong.

I hope you are wrong too, about the revolt thing. I don't think a spending bill is going to "save" us either.

I always think about my own household. How do I get out of a deficit - I reduce spending. This is something the government never understands. Once a government program begins, it never ends. It just balloons and we have to pay for the balloon. If companies were so mismanaged that they need funding to keep afloat they should have evaluated their spending before hitting the panic button and going before Congress. This plan will not save us - only plunge us into further debt.
