Have You Ever Made Donuts At Home?

When I was a kid, I can remember my Aunt making us donuts when we stayed the night with her. It was really simple and I have brought that sam erecipe into my adult life and occassionally make them for my kids. These donuts are made out of biscuits. You flatten out the biscuit dough, cut out the center and fry it in oil. It is really quick and easy. When they are cooked, you can sprinkle them with cinnamon and sugar or ice them. Recently, I found a recipe for cake donuts and have also made these for my kids. Do you make donuts at home, or do you prefer to just go out and buy them?

My Mom and I used to make spanish donuts when I was a teenager and we lived in Texas. I've made them once or twice for Hubby but not in a long time. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

When we were kids, my Mom would line us all up and have a donut making task assigned to all of us. It was so much fun and very tasty too! I don't eat many donuts now a days but would really love to make some sometimes soon. I haven't had a good cake donut for sometime. I think I will look for some cake donut recipes. My favorite is decorating donuts. Fresh donuts bring back some very fond memories. I would do almost anything to reunite in our family home, line us all up like old times and make some mouth watering donuts. Thank you for this post. Enjoy!

I've never made donuts from scratch before. But I have tried a semi-homemade type recipe for donuts before; you deep fry those canned biscuits and roll them in sugar while they're hot. They're pretty good, but they don't really taste like donuts.

We seldom eat donuts now because I am trying to control my blood sugar levels. But I tried making homemade donuts using canned biscuits and making holes in the middles. I fry it and use different means to garnish it. Sometimes I just sprinkle powdered sugar, sometimes i dip in melted chocolate and top it with candle sprinkles and ooh, sometimes I use toasted coconut flakes too. Also, I dont get rid of the holes, they make good munchkins =) oh I miss having donuts, I wish there are diabetic-friendly donuts out there that could go with a nice cup of coffee, yum!
