My friend told me this yesterday. I didn't even know she liked girls and I think she felt better telling someone. Her parents are conservative and don't know that she has a girlfriend. She worries about them finding out because they take care of her dogs and she doesn't want them taking their anger out on the dogs. Even though that would be illegal and I don't think her parents are stupid enough to do that, she's still afraid of it.
I remember when I was where she is now. I was so afraid to come out. It was bad but when I finally did I felt like I could breathe. I told her everything would be fine and I would be here to support her if she needed it. She was grateful for that, I was glad I could help. Have you all ever been in similar situations? How did you deal with them?

I'm not out to family yet because well I know some people in the family would really have a big issue with it. Since those people are the ones that I spend a lot of time with, and I'm still living with, I just feel it's really a bad idea. I'd rather be out of the house before I tell anyone. It's just easier and means less trouble you know.

I came out because being in was really messing with me. I was getting stomach issues and crying always. Not worth it!

Alas I am straight and I don't think I have any offline gay friends. But I would say and do the same thing you did.But it probably wouldn't have as much weight Because I am straight. All I could do is support her anyway I could. Please send her my support. Tell her there is more room out than in.
