If a bear is coming to you...

Wow that is like a nightmare scenario. I definitely wouldn't be able to play dead, as I'd be too freaked out... I'd go with my instinct and run as fast as I could.

Oh, it is never a good idea to try and run from a bear if there isn't some place to lock yourself inside very close by! Like a house! lol. Bears are actually really fast and powerful; and in a long run you won't win:P

I think I would be really scared to just lie down; BUT not only does lying down make the bear think you're dead and make it uninterested--it ALSO shows that you are not a threat to the bear. While standing or running could be seen as a challenge.

Most bears won't attack people JUST to attack (they usually attack to protect themselves or babies) or because they want to protect their territory. But if you don't look like a threat to it, better the chances it'll leave you alone.

i would play dead becaues i would be to sacred to move any way i had a pit bull circle me and i stood still no movements and it went away animals smell fear and i just try to keep a clear mind and not panic but i hate wild life so i dont go camping anyway i have went once and it was not for me i am and always will be a city girl

although i keep telling myself i should drop to the ground and play dead, i think when i meet face to face with a bear, i'd probably end up running. playing dead is a more sensible choice, because bears are less likely to attack human who are dead, or at least look like they're dead. Well, i just hope this scenario never ever happens to me, because i'm sure i wont be able to outwit the bear. i'd be scared stiff!

I dunno. think prevention is better than cure so I don't think I'll not try to be that near to a bear. If it happens I probably will try to pretend to be dead. Usually when I am in fear, I'll froze, anyway. So I think it will be automatic.

i bet i just like you. i will try run as quick as possible. but its only on my mind at this moment since i never face those situation. it will be complicated if we are in those condition. sometimes our logic won't be cooperation well with our fear

In times like these, you will need all that discipline to observe and obey trust and tested methods written by experienced experts.

Just adopt a flat prone position and keep your hands around your head. I doubt running in fear could get you fast and far. These wild animals will only be interested in fresh and live stocks. They are never interested with "dead" and easy meats.

I think I'll search for a tree and will use all my height to get to the top he he, but hope this condition never comes. Btw bears can't climb the tree na??????

Hi youless.. I dont think i will lie down and play dead since i am so sure that I will faint seeing the bear. Im so afraid of animals even those that are less harmful than the bear, how much more if I will see an animal that I know will eat human flesh..
