Have you ever lost and regained a substantial amount of weight? Oprah-style?

Have you ever lost and regained a substantial amount of weight? (To me, this is over 20 pounds or so). How did you lose it, and how did you manage to re-gain it? I lost thirty pounds at the end of summer, and someone they have managed to sneak back on, and I'm currently trying to slim down a little more to what I originally was. Does anyone else find this "yo-yo" dieting terribly annoying?

I have tried many weight loss plans, lost weight and gained it back - again, and again and again! I have recently found a great diet plan that is very easy to follow and is working well. I am not hungry and don't have food cravings, so feel that this is going to be the one that works for me - as it has for many others.

Yes, you can do it as a vegetarian. It is the Let's Do Lunch plan: http://www.letsdolunch.com

Feel free to share what it is! ;) Can you do it if you're vegetarian? Thanks for responding! I'm glad you've found something that's working for you.

Hi Maezee! I hope you keep trying and find a plan that is right for you. SOmetimes after doing a fad kind of a diet, you indeed do gain your weight back after you go back to eating "normally", so what you really need to do is find a life plan that will work for you once you reach the weight you desire. I personally am a fan of the low carb life-style, but it isn't for everyone, and I have lost weight and gained it back a few times. This time around I gained about 10 pounds this WInter and am now not eating carbs and working out in order to lose it again. I know it doesn't sound like a lot of weight, but I am a very short persona and the weight really shows on me! I think the best way to keep wieght off and be healthy is to eat properly and exercise regularly. Good luck to you and have a great day!

Thanks a lot! I'm a bit taller, so of course the weight seems less noticable to everyone (except ME of course!) and I'm a vegetarian, so I don't think the low-carb diet is right for me. But you're absolutely right - I think 99% of diets are doomed to fail from the start because it's only a temporary fix, and at some point in your life, you'll end up going back to your old eating habits and such. Well, thanks for your answer! I appreciate it!

This actually happened to me recently and im a little upset by it. I had lost a total of 90lbs but over the last few months i have regained about 30lbs. Im not willing to get as big as I was. I want to catch this before it gets out of control again. When I lost weight I just really watched what I ate. I measured everything, and made sure to work out in the gym at least a little every day. I also signed up for a website thats free called spark people there is a really good support system there, and great recepies.

Thanks! I've been hearing a lot of great things about that site - although I have to admit, I'm an unactive member on WAY too many sites. Maybe I'll join and be active once I figure a way to balance everything a little more evenly. =P Have you heard of "Self" magazine? They also have a similar online community that I used to be part of - and it's definitely nice. It's good that you aren't letting yourself get back up to that point - and you're taking control now. :) And congrats on the initial 90lbs! That must take a lot of willpower and commitment. :)

That's the story of my life! I was 'large' as a child and lost it in my late teens then put some back on and lost it again after the birth of my son and seemed to stay slim, probably because my job helped too, for many years. Four years ago I was at my lowest now it's creeping back on again. My weight depends a lot on my mood too. If I diet without really feeling like dieting then it doesn't work but if life ingeneral is treating me good then Ilose weight without dieting almost as though something inside me helps burn it up quicker, weird. I hope maybe when the warmer weather comes both of us will see them disappearing again!

Yes! For sure! I LOVE the outdoors in the summertime - and I LOVE hiking and that usually gets me in shape. I just feel kind of ashamed. Without a gym membership (or home equiptment), it's hard to stay in shape during the winter or times when it's cold out.

How is that going for you? Any tips for me? ;) I don't know what 12kg translates to in pounds (I'm horrible at math), but it certainly sounds like a lot. Good luck!
