My local free newspaper goes down

I was sad to find out that my local free newspaper has gone down. It was a great paper delivered in my area every week. It had an excellent property supplement in it selling houses and it had well organized job listings and adverts from private homes and businesses. I hope the the other free paper is still in business. It is poorly organized and it is nearly all advertising goods. I continue to see local businesses go down in this recession. How is the situation in your locality? Do you get any free newspapers delivered to your home?

We used to get a local paper delivered to us free but, the reason we don't anymore is that the wage for the people who deliver it is too low and most will not do it! I should know because when I was younger I delivered it myself! Nowadays we only get the free one by picking one up in the local shopping centre

We have a small community newspaper that is free in my old neighborhood. It isn't delivered free, but you can pick it up at local stores free, or you can pay the subscription price and have it delivered. So far, it is still in publication. I'm sure we will be seeing lots of things going away that have been free in the past with the way the economy is going. I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't get much worse before it gets better.

Hi maximax8! A lot of business worldwide has been closing and the world economy is still not looking good. Here in my local area, a lot of business has been closing down but there have been few new business opportunities. With regards to our local newspapers, we really don't have any free newspapers here. All newspapers are being sold and they still are doing good business at the moment. I do hope that the economy worldwide will soon pick up and we won't be suffering more losses. Take care and have a great day! lovelots..faith

Yes, the same has happened in this area. I think possibly this paper maybe from the same group as mentioned in the original discussion. As to recession, I think it maybe more accurate to say that we are going into depression. There are many things coming together. We have banks in the UK posting losses of billions, YES billions of pounds sterling. Our government is rapidly becoming a basket case in the amount of money they are throwing into the banks. Old Age Pensioners who had saved money for their retirement, are now doing very badly, as they get hardly any return on their money, as base bank rate is now down to 1%. From what I have read, there seems to be plenty more of this bad economic news. But it maybe a blessing in disguise, as eventually, people will come together more, to help each other out, instead of just chasing the latest consumer frill. Well, I guess this wasn't quite the answer you had in mind, but sometimes, when I get going...

I still get my free paper, The Leader, in Sussex. I guess it won't be too long before they're feeling the pinch too, my friend. It seems to be spreading rapidly, and mercilessly. Brightest Blessings.
