Would not going to college be a deal breaker?

I've herad of some families where if you didn't go to college, you were not able to inherit any of the family money. Would that be a deal breaker in your family?
I feel that a person should get some kind of higher education once they're out of school. However, there should be some exceptions to that rule. What if they what they're going to do doesn't require college. What kid they're just not cut out for higher learner, and it'd be just a waste of money to go to school?
There should be a clause that before they totally knix school that they need to sit down and talk with their parents. Maybe they just need to be steered down another path before they totally turn their back on school.

I hope that my kids all choose to go on to college after high school, but if they do not, I feel that it is their choice I didn't go to college myslf except to take a vocational course, and I did that in my late twenties. My older brother went to college to become a teacher. My younger brother started going to college, but has decided to take a break. I am not sure if he will return or not. I think that it is important for us to follow our own dreams, and not to force them upon our children.

I think that college can be a very important tool in just about everyone's life. However, I agree with you that I wouldn't want to force my child into something they don't want to do, aren't able to do, or don't have to do. Some children just don't respond that way. If they're pushed into something, they're just going to buck the system.

Yes, college is a deal breaker - especially in my family. We absolutely have to go to college. My parents also prefer additional studies like MA/PHD or law school or medical school. It's just the way things have always been in our family - everyone goes to college! I don't mind it, really. I know it's beneficial for me in the long run.
I think I would also let my kids go to college. But they can pick whatever course they want. They could do art, literature, anything... as long as they go to college. (And the college has to be a good one too!)
