There has to be a cheaper way ? Pet Meds!  

Use 1/4 teaspoon of Eucalyptus Oil in an 8 - 10 ounce spray pumper bottle filled with water. Spray your carpet, furniture, pet's beds. Fleas apparently hate the aroma and will "flee". Spray your pets with this mixture as well. Vacuuming is also important for getting the eggs that may be in the carpet.

You can also try Lemon Tonic - boil one pint of water and remove from heat. Add one thinly sliced lemon and allow to steep over night. Strain. Pour the liquid into a spray bottle and apply liberally to the pet's coat. Rub it in so that the skin is wet. Lemons are good for the skin and contain limonene which is an effective insect repellant. The limonene actually dissolves a flea's waxy coating causing them to dehydrate and die.

Yet another remedy is 1 cup of Avon Skin So Soft, 1 tsp of citronella, 2 cups white vinegar and 2 cups of water. Mix well and spray on with spray bottle.

You could consider getting rid of the dogs and cats. This could result in saving a fortune, not just on flea powder, but food, vet bills, cleaning costs, doggery and cattery bills, overwhelming sadness when they die (consider a tortoise) etc etc.
