Me in front of the giant Pysanka (Ukranian Easter Egg) in Vegreville, AB (www.tabloidcolumn.com/easter-egg.html), in front of the giant beaver sculpture in Beaverlodge, AB (http://beaverlodge.ca/Default.asp?Page=118), in front of the giant golf ball in Taylor, BC (www.roadsideattractions.ca/golfball.htm), pointing at the giant sundial in Sangudo, AB (www.sangudo.ca/), walking through the Sign Post Forest in Watson Lake, YT (www.yukoninfo.com/watson/signpostforest.htm), an hour of video taken of my boyfriend and I in the Enchanted Forest in Revelstoke, BC (www.enchantedforestbc.com/)... I'm not sure what it is about tourist traps and roadside attractions that draws me in, but I stop at almost every single one of them so I can get my picture taken. I am utterly the epitome of tacky tourist.
Is anyone else guilty of this?

He, he, he
I think these gigantic roadside attractions are uniquely North American. I have never seen them anywhere else. I see you have seen a lot of them. What you are missing is the gigantic Canada Goose ourside Wawa Ontario and the huge nickel in Sudbury Ontario. Oh, near the 401 between Ottawa and Toronto there is also a giant apple, at a restaurant, there is also an apple pie bakery on the premises and you can climb into the giant apple. Hope you will take these attractions in when you visit Ontario.

Sadly I've only visited Southern Ontario, and only traveled as far north as Mississauga, so I've missed all of those.

I actually only live about a two hour drive away from there. I have traveled past that big egg many many times.

Bwahahahaa! Australia is very fond of 'Big Things', too! We have a Big Merino (a ram), a big lobster, a big pineapple and a big banana - just a few of many! There is a photo somewhere of our kids in front of the big pineapple, and it makes me laugh when I remember the day, because our son (who was about eight or nine at the time), was disappointed, and said, 'It's crap!' We all still have a good laugh when we think about it!
