Christianity Tested In Hard Times.... |
|
Are you prepared to take folks into your home or share meals with others in hard times? Are you willing to squeeze another person or family into your home, a family who may not ever be able to pay you back?
We are facing some hard times now and most likely, harder times ahead. As Christians, are we ready to give that "glass of water" to someone who might ask, are we ready to help the poor, the fatherless, the widow? Certainly, our Christianity will be tested in the days and months ahead. I wonder how we will do?

Jellen (892) | 10 months ago | We may be coming to that place where families move in together, when children move back home because there are no jobs or costs are too high to survive it alone. I'm sure your family would be glad to know you are open to that need, should it happen.

Jellen (892) | 10 months ago | I know what you mean. I'm hoping it won't be necessary, but I'm also hoping I would be willing should it become necessary. A lot depends on the way the receiver responds to the gift. Charity is not an entitlement.
If I need charity, I'd best be grateful and do all I can to contribute in other ways.

Arkie69 (1098) | 10 months ago | Don't forget there is strength in numbers. The more people you have living in a small group the better your chances of surviving. For one thing a lot of work is going to be required to provide food and the more hands you have to do that work the more food you can produce. Also the more eyes you will have that can spot danger before it gets to you. If you turn a hungry person away that comes to you in peace you may as well turn Jesus away.

Jellen (892) | 10 months ago | This would require discernment, for sure. In today's society, we can't be too cautious. But the wonderful thing about walking in the Spirit, is if we are listening to Lord, He will make His will clear to us. We must not feel obligated to take in every desperate case, we must be able to say no if it's not a good move, but we must be available to provide shelter if called upon. At least that's how I see it. What about you?

5. ellen_mom (121) | 10 months ago | Having been the recipient of the helping hand, I would gladly reciprocate. We stayed with some friends for about 3 month or we would have been homeless. We have been doing some food storage and would gladly allow someone to stay with us and share our food and good fortune.

6. Arkie69 (1098) | 10 months ago | With God's help we will do fine. Without it we will be the ones needing the help. I have been trying for a few years now to get into position where I can raise a lot of extra food just for people that can't feed themselves. I would like to say I am ready for this year but I'm not. Maybe by mid summer. I have known for a long time this thing was coming and been trying to get ready for it. People think times are rough now. Just wait we haven't seen anything yet.
Within the near future you will see people killing to keep what little food they have and others killing to get it. We don't need a war to destroy this country. All it will take is a bad crash of our economy and the food supply be shut off for a while. When that happens the people that live within this country will destroy it.
Only one thing will get you and yours through what we face. If you are not close enough to God that He can guide you and provide your needs you probably won't make it unless some good Christian takes you in. I know what I say now doesn't make a lot of sense to most people but soon they will. It looks like Jesus is getting ready to destroy the evil from this earth. He is simply going to let them starve to death. Man's evil deeds has brought this on us and now we are all going to pay.

Jellen (892) | 10 months ago | Art,
I sense the very thing you have written is coming our way. And without faith in the one who provides, all motivation and reason for stock-piling food is useless. What happens if the trouble lasts longer than the food. It will still take faith. I believe God is seek those who will trust him as provider....and also who will prepare themselves to be of service to others.

Arkie69 (1098) | 10 months ago | I don't just sense this, I know it as fact. I hear too many people repeating things that God has taught me and it's things that the only place they could have gotten it is directly from God just like I did. You are right. It will do no good to stock pile food if you live in the cities. In the country where you can have a better chance of defending it you can.
The people in the cities will be constantly on the move. What they can carry is all they will be able to have. It will come down to two kinds of people on this earth. That will be the good and the evil. The good will win but there won't be a lot of them left when they do. The food source will be food and water that was stashed by people that have died. The good will hide during the day and search for this food and water at night. That's what we have ahead of us and people will not believe it until they see it. Then it will be too late. Now is the time to get close to God.

8. suspenseful (17072) | 8 months ago | I think the hard times is not people losing their jobs or their money it is what will be going on pretty soon when the hate crime bill is passed. Christians will be falsely accused of discrimination, accused of hatred, bigotry, and when the hate crime is passed, it may be illegal to defend or help a Christian if someone accuses him of a hate crime. There is a super privileged group that can do no wrong, that are better then everyone else, who have the right to cause those against them to loose their money and possessions and perhaps their lives. So would you be willing to defend the defenseless or be willing to stand with them? Most of us Christians already donate money through our offerings, or we give away clothes and furniture to those in need, but will we be able to protect them?

coolcoder (1475) | 8 months ago | Hopefully, the American people--and some Republicans and Democrats who have any smidgen of sense at all--will bombard their Senators and Representatives with objections to this hate crime bill, and it will not be passed. Even if it is passed, in the long run, we Christians will triumph. This battle's already been won, even if people don't choose to see it that way.:)
