Sending incomplete parts!

This is a follow up on my discussion this morning.
The repair guy came and looked at the parts they sent and was not happy because they didn't send a complete set of parts and, of course, the CRITICAL part wasn't there!
So, darn it, my dish washer STILL isn't fixed!
And boy was HE angry! I think he was biting his lips and tongue to stop from cussing out the person who didn't send the complete set of parts.
Have you ever had this problem?
I've had it repeatly with Sears and my fridge - the darn thing beeps ENDLESSLY and they can't seem to get the right parts here! But, as soon as the repair guy comes, it stops!
You have any repair horror stories?

I don't have a repair horror story, but I have a horror story concerning Sears!
I bought some property in another county here in Virginia a few years ago. It was a foreclosure and the previous owner had apparently stripped it bare and sold everything she could before she lost the house.
That meant that I had to get in new appliances along with a new HEATING SYSTEM! Yes, she ripped the old one out and sold it!
But, the price was excellent and I had figured that the cost of repairs would be nowhere close to what I would make by buying this property, fixing it up, then selling it. (I was right.)
BUT, I called Sears to come out and give me an estimate for a new heat pump. They KNEW I needed it and wanted it. These things aren't cheap so I thought I'd find the salesman waiting for me when I drove down there. He wasn't.
I waited and waited. He never showed. I drove back home (and we're talking about a 250 mile trip one way!). I called Sears. They PROMISED me they'd have a guy there at the next date we chose to meet.
I made the drive, again, and waited. And waited. I called Sears. They called the salesman. He called me and told me that he was at the house at that very moment. I said, "No, you aren't. I'm here at this very moment and you are most assuredly NOT here!" I have no idea where he was, but he sure wasn't at that house!
I called Sears... again. We rescheduled, again. FINALLY, I got a salesman there when I was there. It was the easiest sale this guy had ever made because I already knew what I wanted.
THEN, I ordered a new stove from Sears. After 3 failed attempts to have the darned thing delivered, I cancelled the order and told Sears that they had BETTER credit my bank since they had already deducted it from my account. Oh how they tried to convince me that they could deliver this thing! But, it didn't work. I told them I never wanted to deal with them EVER again, and haven't.
I despise Sears!

[b]Frankly, Elic, I'm surprised you dealt with Sears at all after that stupid cheapo "storage house" they sold us that blew away because there was no way to anchor the thing!
Sears used to be a fine company. It used to be a household word! Incompetence has now made it a household swear word....

I agree, Maggie, Sears only cares about the bottom line: Money.

That is why I never buy appliances from Sears.
When we bought our dishwasher, the man who installed it was very nice, had it done in no time. Well, we thought he was adept at his job.
Time goes by, and to mention that we have laminate wood floors in our home, I am saying to my husband, "Who is putting water on the floor and not mopping it up? The floor is warping!!" He said that he was not and do not blame him. I was mad.
One day, I am walking and the floor is squishing!!! Well, water is just bubbling up from under the now warped boards!
After an investigation, we discover the dishwasher is leaking so we call the repair guy. He comes in and says, "Did you open it and put new screws back in?" and of course we said no. Well, it turns out, the guy who installed it used pointy screws instead of flat screws and pierced the drum that holds the water inside the dishwasher and for close to a year, we have had a very slow leak into our floor, ruining it.
After a long fight with the company and the insurance (their insurance) they would not replace my floor, only the dishwasher. I was angry because I did not have the money to replace the kitchen floor because we would have to replace ALL of the floors as we cannot match the laminate. GRRRR!!
So, lots of rugs later, I finally saved up enough to just replace it all with linoleum tiles that look like wood. Not what I wanted but I had 1,000 square feet to do and could not afford new laminate floors.
Lesson learned, stand there, and FILM them doing the installation!!!

[b]What?! Just how on earth were they allowed to get away with NOT replacing your floor? THEIR incompetent worker ruined it! You cannot legally have been expected (&, though it doesn't count in court, common sense demands the conclusion!) to KNOW that the man had done a destructive job!
If it's at all possible, I think you should try to find legal counsel which would back you in a suit. I'm sure that it could be retried if you came up with some new legal angle.
Whatever the case, I feel for you. If there's anything in the world I loathe more than injustice, I have yet to encounter it!!

Actually, we tried to get the money for it but failed. At least it did not leak and ruin anything else in the house. It has been about 5 years so it is past the point of worrying about it but, yes, it is annoying as H E double hockey sticks!!

I didn't get to read you first story yet, I am so far behind.
my router broke I was off line for two days,
I had to borrow money and my son went out to get what he thought was a router, he brings it home connects it and it doesn't work. I called up best buy and guess what it was a switch and not a router. It just looked like one.
He had to go back and exchange it.
So he goes to connect the new router and the disc and instruction guide was missing, oye vey. But my son was smart enough to connect it anyhow and now I am up and working on line again.

Aren't they useless, my friend? I'm having a new kitchen fitted at the moment, and although he's finished his part of the job now, the fitter kept running out of things and having to go get them, as did the electricians. Surely they can assess what's needed by measurement, and come well-equipped? Oh well... only the flooring and decorating to come. Let's home they get it right! lol.
Brightest Blessings.

Soon as you mentioned the trouble you were having getting the right parts I knew you had to have been talking about no other than Sears. I swear, they are the worst repair outfit around. With appliances, lot of times if you buy brand new and get the extended warranty at the time of purchase, you get the option of extending that warranty before it expires instead of using the store's warranty/repair. I know Whirlpool is excellent with their warranties and I never had problems with their repair people and parts come in next day most times. Last straw with me and Sears repair is the last chainsaw we bought from them. It's a Craftsman and got the extended warranty with it. Well, that chainsaw spent more time in repair than it did in use. I finally demanded a brand new chainsaw cause I was tired of taking it back for the same problems. We have bought numerous chainsaws from them but that was the only one we had all the problems with and seems Sears either couldn't fix it or just too dang lazy to fix it right the first time. I hope that when this nightmare of yours is over, you never have to deal with Sears again.

I previously had good service and products from them, this has been a big problem, the fridge, the range and now the dishwasher. But at least the range had the right parts and was fixed in one go - well, 2, one to figure out the problem the second to repair it. When the other roomie burned up the motor of the washer we really had to have words with her, but they fixed that in 2 visits as well. But between the RUDE first guy who lied and then sending imcomplete parts, this has not been fun.
and the fridge still is beeping like mad sometimes.

[b]Elic, is that the same fridge we kept getting put off by the company on delivery, & having to use a different one than we ordered or something? I can't remember.

[b]Yes, I do have one...but you already know it, since it's your story, too, former roomie.
Maybe you recall J.C. Penny's air conditioner & all those visits their idiot fix-it guy made...who did nothing to repair it, merely taking off the front cover, looking at it & leaving!
Who, after several visits, when we called JCP, they flat out LIED & said they "never had complaints about it," whereupon we called a different company's fix-it guy who said, "Oh we get their junk (that's the CLEAN version ) in here all the time"? (!)
I was ready to bite bricks in half after all that! Didn't you feel like throttling Penny's, then, too? At least the other fix-it guy FIXED it!

[b]Oops...forgot: I'm having a problem right now, & it may involve you! You recall that Ameriplan said they weren't charging you any longer? Well, just today I got an email from them asking if I'd like to "upgrade" my account! I'd double check to see if they're charging you, hun, & if they are, I'm going to tap the A.G. on the shoulder & demand they be investigated.
I've just fired off a 40 point literally red-lettered post to them, signed "Irately," so let's see if they reply, shall we?

That happens more often than you would think. My husband does plumbing and he learned a long time ago when he ordered parts that he had to be sure to check the box when it came in for just that reason. I had to laugh cause the other day one of the workers had to fix a water heater in an attic. The replacement part was ceramic and as he got upstairs it accidentally hit something and broke. So he had to leave to get another one.

Hi Elic,
Yes I've been there and done that, I had all that problemes when my washing machine broke down, it took three men to look at it and two weeks before they finally fixed it.

What a pain. That means he will have to come back and do it as soon as the parts come. The worst I have with repair is when they want or take short cuts and do things the easy way. The plumber I had wanted to replace my porcelain tank with a plastic one that already had the guts inside instead of going to the trouble of replacing the guts. HELLO I have an expensive porcelain tank. Why wold I want to replace it with plastic just because the repair is easier? He didn't want to do it my way, so I told him to just forget it. Needless to say I just did the work myself rather than fight with him.
