Last time I was at the Supermarket I picked up a jug of milk and noticed, 2% Milk was the same price as Whole Milk. Then I remembered that the label (2% Milk) is meaningless. The 2% does not stand for anything, and I wondered about switching from whole milk to 2% milk? I googled it and found this. By Fiona Haynes, About.com Filed In: 1. Health and Fitness Question: Should I switch from whole milk to 2% milk? Answer: No. 2% milk is a reduced fat product, not a low fat one. This means that although its total fat content is nearly 40% less than its whole milk counterpart, it still contains 5g of fat per serving (and 3g of artery-clogging saturated fat), and derives close to 35% of its calories from fat. To qualify as low fat, its total fat content must be 3g or less. It's fine to use 2% milk temporarily, as a means to stepping down from whole milk to 1% milk or, best of all, fat free milk. But if you are serious about eating a low fat diet, 2% does not cut it. How many of you are serious about eating a low fat diet, and are drinking 2% milk as an aid to fitness?

fortunately, we are not drinking milk but we use soy milk instead. Of course we, in the family are serious in eating a low fat products for health purposes. At this time of commercialism, we as consumers must be wise enough to buy anything that is in promo.. some are truly deceptive and that is the life of business.Business People are trying their best to promote their business.

Well, business people who cheated with their customers will not stay long in business and that's a fact.

I never heard that 2 per cent milk was a diet food. Just that it was lower in fat then regular milk. I think this is more a misunderstanding then a deception. When we get milk straight from the cow, the fats all rise to the top and can be poured off for butter and cream the remaining liquid was what we drank and very low in fat. It's this natural milk that first got the reputation of health food. Only after milk was homogenized did it become the health hazard it is today.

at home I drinl whole milk, and at work i drink 2% because tha is all the retirement home buys. I really don't have to worry about my milk in my diet, as I can use the calories.

I eat my oatmeal porridge with milk. I actually like whole milk, but my wife feels better (its all in her head) drinking 2%. A 2 qt jug lasts us about 2 weeks, so, one way or the other isn't going to make much difference in our lives.

The pediatritions are now telling mothers to take their kids off whole milk by year two. They want to have them on 2%. My son has food issues so he needs calories... cutting the milk down isn't what he should do but when it's time we will go to low or no fat.

Personally I never drink milk! But I think its good for children to begin their lives drinking milk. I doubt milk is harmful for children.

I drink skim milk because that is what the doctor recommended after our son turned 2. When he was a year we drank whole milk because he needed the extra fat.
