Well as some of you know, I have just come back from a week with my kids back to my hometown in Cornwall. So here is a quick update of how my week went!
Sunday we went down to Cornwall to my mums and arrived early evening, settled the kids down and then got a Chinese takeaway.
Monday we went down to the beach and took a walk to the next beach along the coastal path and met up with my friend at the duck pond and fed the ducks.
Tuesday we went shopping around the different shops they have there to where I live now.
Wednesday we went to a place called St Mawes and had a lovely walk around and went to the castle but it was closed so we could go in!
Thursday we went into the city as I had some jobs to do and then we went to the park. In the evening I went on a lovely date!
Friday we went down and met my friend for lunch and then to my other friends to visit and I went out on a date again that evening with the same guy!!
Saturday we went to the beach for a walk but the kids got soaked running in and out of the water! In the evening we went and visited my dad and then made our way back home to Devon just 2 hours away.
It was a great week but was all over too quickly!!
So what do you get up to when you visit your hometown?

It sounds like you had a lovely time exploring your homeland of Cornwall. I would love to visit the gardens there that I have been reading about and go to some of the pretty beaches.
I live in Somerset so if I planned a near home touring holiday I would get a train pass. I would visit further afield than my local area. I would go to Glastonbury and a do some shopping for some semi precious gem stones. I would visit Wells and see its great Catherdral. I would pop over to Wales to see some of its stunning castles. I would go up to Cheltenham to do some shopping. I might go to Bath to enjoy bathing in the spa waters.

Hi ya maximax8
I have a brother who lives in Somerset, Bridgwater area. Whenever we go to visit him my kids always look out for what they call the 'pants man'!!
You know the wicker man on the side of the M5 and they started off calling him the man with no pants!!
When they see that that they know they are not far from their uncles house!!
Thanks for your response

The last time I went back to my hometown it was for a wedding. I took the kids around some of my old hangouts and the beach which they loved.
Nice to have you back

hey humbug, great to hear you had a wonderful time. i know good times always end too quickly. i felt that more when i was a kid. i was always reluctant to come back home after a vacation because i hated school haha! too bad the castle was closed. good to hear (read) you again.

Hello Humbug25! As I promised I will wait for you so Welcome back! It seems like you're having a good time on your vacation..hehe
Everytime I go home to my hometown, the usual things I did was go to the beach and just walk there. I would also love to sing karaoke because we have karaoke at home.
I am glad you're back Humbug..But I know you're happy that you spent quality time to your family, although like what you said it seems it's not enough..hehe

I love my hometown much more than anything. up to the level where if someone say anything rubbish about my hometown then it is not bearable for me. i cant bare those things.
i think everybody is always connected with their surroundings. and they start loving those all things with which they are living everyday. as like so i think we love our nation, our state, our history, our hometown and so many other things.. the list can bigger...
as i never went far from my hometown so i never had such good experience where u come to know the value of ur own town, ur native place.
but still i love it much. and i never want to go far from it in future too. if such condition may fall in life then i cant live more than a year (max limit) far from my home town.
guys i think u are also agree with me ??
are you ?? or wat ??

Wow! Sounds like you had a whale of a time my friend, but, boy didn't it go quick, I have to admit it was nice coming back from the gym at 3pm without having to share the buses with the kids, some as you can imagine are high spirited so I tend to avoid coming back at 3-4pm! I can't remember where St Mawes is my friend, I have been to Cornwall a few times, my favourite place is Mevagissey. Truro was nice too, going back some, I bet your children were sad to come home, you certainly made it an action packed week, and a date on top as well, aye, aye! Good for you, I am pleased you had a great time, trouble is coming back! My hometown has never been that far away, it's always been travelling between Essex and Kent so not a million miles away, visiting my parents usually every 5-6 weeks for a long weekend, Thursday night to Sunday night so I would avoid the traffic at both ends.

Hi there wolfie34
Yes it sure did go quick! My eldest even cried Sunday night because he didn't want to go to school but I think he was just tired from all the late nights, he was asleep within minutes of going to bed! Yeah the date was nothing special really, he is someone I have known for nearly 20 years and we are going to be friends for now, things are just way too difficult to take any further! My mum lives just on the outskirts of Truro, Threemilestone!! St Mawes is situated opposite Falmouth, Pendennis castle is right opposite the St Mawes castle. We went back over on the King Harry Ferry rather than going all the way around on dry land!! I am busy planning our next holiday now which I think will be Easter and maybe the castle will be open by then!!
Cheers wolfie

Blimey, you got a lot in, all in a week. Sounds like you had a super week, glad to have you back. My children are also back at school tomorrow we had two weeks off here. Like you, we had lots of days out and did some decorating. Back to normal tomorrow, no more lie in boo.

Hi amanda333
We did a bit more than that but I really didn't want to make the discussion too long just incase I bored everyone!! Yes it is a shame that there no more lie ins and I must admit that it was a struggle to get out of bed this morning to get the kids ready for school. Roll on Easter!!
Cheers amanda

hello humbug
it sounds like you had a really nice week away. i am so sorry to hear that you didn't get to go inside of the castle. that was a bummer. but other than that, it sounded very nice all of the different things that you got to do while that you were away. and there is nothing that i enjoy doing is going for a nice stroll along the beach. and i know what that you mean when that you say that your time away went by way too fast. isn't that the way that it always happens when that we happen to get an opportunity to be away from home like that? it seems like you only get to where that you are visiting and travelling to like that only to have to turn around and return back home way too soon. and i still live in my hometown that i grew up in and there are many different things to do around here, but we have no castles here of any kind, or any beaches.
take care and have a beautiful evening.
