It will be like asking machine wash or hand wash, problem is we can use powdered soap in hand washing. So which do you use often with your laundry?

Hi Modstar, I hope I've got it right. I use laundry powder to handwash undies and silk clothes. Other type of clothes or towels and so forth, I will place into the washing machine, and I use liquid detergent for that.

I prefer to use laundry powder either having hand wash or machine wash. I would like to soak the laundry which is not suitable for machine wash in the water with washing powder added to it for at least half an hour. I then would do the hand washing after pouring more water onto the pail so the water with detergent in it would become thinner and it won’t make my hands rough. I dislike putting on rubber gloves. I would like to use soap bar before brushing the collar and sleeves part of the shirts of my kid before dump them into the washing machine. Happy posting and have a nice day.

I use powdered soap for washing machine. For hand wash I use both. I use powdered soap first and soak the clothes in for few minutes. When I start to wash then thats the time i use bar soap for specific areas like the collar and armpits. I really want my clothes to smell really good.

When I 1st saw this, I was thinking to myself - powdered soap? How the heck is my body gonna take that?! HahahaThen when I kept on reading then, oh, laundry, hahaWe use both powdered & also liquid detergent. Normally the powdered one is for rags, mats & all that stuff whereas detergent is for the clothes!~

I use both. When there is a power cut we use bar soap otherwise powder soap is the best for the machines. I use Arial washing powder.

i use detergent powder for our laundry. i soak the clothes in ariel overnight for whites and an hour for colored clothes. the stains come off easily when they are soaked. and it's less effort for me. makes my work easier.

You seem expert in washing clothes. Can i ask? Is it safe to soak colored shirts? Won't it affect the color?
• Philippines
25 Feb 09
i'm not really an expert. lol but i had to learn to do my own laundry when i lived on my own. yes, we can soak colored clothes. but when your clothes are new, you have to wash them separately first to know if the color bleeds. if it does, you always wash it separately. but if it doesn't then you can wash it together with other clothes.

When soaking clothes it is better to use a powdered soap and it is used only on washing machine. If you don't , then you will have no other choice but to use a bar soap. For me it is just the same. Using a soap cleanses too when you scrub it clothes with a bar of soap and a scrubber. What i don't like to soak is the colored clothes because they tend to loose color and spread like a fire with other clothes. So when i wash, i see to it that i separate white clothes from colored clothes. Sometime when we try to save electricity, we use hand wash. When soaking i always use Ariel powdered soap. And if we use a bar soap , it is Tide.

We use bar soap for washing out hands. When we're doing laundry, we use liquid soap. I don't know that I've ever used powder soap. The only kind of powder we've used was the oxyclean bleach.

I use the liquid detergent. The powder leaves specks in the laundry with my water and bar soap....neh doesnt seem to work as well for clothing.

I use powdered washing powder. It seems like I get more for my money when I buy the powdered kind. I would prefer the liquid but right now I am struggling and trying to save every dime I can. Since I lost my job I have to do without the things I want and just go for the things I need.

hello modstar when that i am doing the laundry for myself and my family members, i use liquid soap. lol my favorite kind of laundry detergent that i like to use is the Tide with a touch of Downy in it. it makes the clothes smelling so fresh and good when that they come out of the dryer. and also i do not have to worry about purchasing the fabric softener or dryer sheets since that i have been buying the Tide with the Downy in it like that. they have all different kinds of scents in the Tide line of laundry detergent, like the Tide with Febreeze added to it. but before that i started purchasing the liquid Tide all that i used detergent wise was the powdered laundry detergent, and i think that the name of it was Pyrex that i used to use all of the time. take care and have a beautiful evening.

Handwashing the clothes would be easier if both are used. Especially for white-colored ones. Plain soaking them in soapy water won't be enough. You have to "kusot" them individually and using bar soap too.
