My Fellow Americans, I Come Before You Today To..........

.........tell you I'm going to spend all your money! HA! Well tonight the President of the U.S. will giving his first formal Address to the Nation. I can hardly wait. Can you? The impact of his recent visit to Canada was so negligible that our media lost interest in him the minute he left the plane on his arrival! LOL I've seen nothing on our news since reporting on what was or wasn't accomplished by this visit other than some good photo ops. Now, tonight ALL channels are going to be tied up for two hours with his Address to the Nation. Programs before and after are all reruns. NOT a good night for television. I'll be watching it of course. Or rather listening with half an ear as I mylot.... How about you America? Do you care what he has to say? Frankly, he's beginning to frighten me. Already the impact of his committing troops to Afghanistan has sent our own oil industry into a tailspin and our oil fields are panicking. The fear that the U.S. pulling out of Iraq, will cause that region to close ranks around it's oil production and export overseas has our 'Wall Street' pundits freaking out the market and convincing consumers that the little recession Canada is experiencing is going to be the end of the world as we know it. It's time for a real change. I want a woman ruling the free world! Great idea huh? Well isn't it?.............

Honestly I am frightened about the nest four years. And I will be listening to what he has to say. Already I am seriously questioning some things about some of his decisions. Like the new stimulus plan of the govt taking less out of our federal tax (makes me wonder will I get less back next yr?, I purposely choose to claim no dependents so they take the max and I have a decent size check at tax time), and the cutting back on programs here in the US (like medicare and the talks about retirees of military) but yet we need to increase our foreign aide to other countries all the while plants, factories are shutting down all around us and people are having to file unemployment. KY already has to borrow money from the federal govt to be able to pay unemployment benefits to KY residents who cannot get work or were laid off. We're not even out of the second month of the year.... And now people at work mentioned this idea of possibly gas rationing in our future...give me a break. Now that the "moment" is over we all have to deal with consequences. And it is frightening. Sorry I had a moment Sparks LOL

No probs taface. You told me some things I didn't know........ Wanna move to Canada? LOL What ever Obama does is going to have an impact on Canada, and the little we've already experienced is scary enough. I love the U.S., but you couldn't get me to move there now............

Several of the things he has chosen to do have us on end..pulling the troups out of Iraq and wanting to have the government take over all of the banks. They can't manage anything they have to now...Lord help us if they take over the banks. Yeah, I think we do need a woman ruling....we've seen what the men can and will do. A woman can not do any worse...they would most likely do much better. I never thought I'd see either a woman or a person of color from any country as the president or even running during my lifetime. Well it's here...wish a woman was there instead.

It's a fact that very few coporations run by women ever fail. So a female government leader couldn't do any worse. Nostradamus predicted that there would be a female President in the White House in the year 2010. That's next year..........kinda makes you wonder what's going to happen to Obama......

Right now, I'd welcome the prophecy of Nostradamus to come true! We've been hearing that a long time. And, I guess you know everything he prophesied has come true so far.

Something we forget. If something happens to the President, the VP takes over and we don't need him, either. AND, if he can't take over, it goes to the Speaker of the House. BUT, if Nancy Pelosi took over, heaven help us!!

Sparks, I'm an American and he scares the heck out of all of us here! He is not the change he campaigned on. The recession should have been left alone and let it clear itself up. It needed NO money to do that! But we are now in debt up to our teeth and they are out there wanting more! He talks more than he works, and I don't think he has a clue about anything he's doing. Yes, and we are scared that removing all the troops from Iraq is going to let Iran walk right in and take over and it's going to be worse than ever. Our troops will then be in Afghanistan and then some will probably have to go back to Iraq to fight another war. AND our troops are getting tired. We aren't going to have enough man power here to help at home if we need it for the bad times here! I won't be watching him. I can't stand to hear or watch him. I have Glenn Beck recorded and will probably watch him while the speech is going on. I'll see it enough on Fox News afterwards. Frankly, I am TIRED of hearing how bad we are, what a troubled country he took over from Bush, etc! He isn't half the man or leader that Bush was! I have never heard Bush get on television and play our nation down! AND that is all you get out of this guy's mouth! His has only fear and scare tactics and I've heard enough!

Well I watched him tonight and couldn't believe he said no to your agriculture programs and yet will bail out the failing auto industry. What's the point of having a car if you have nothing to eat?

There are people here voicing the same thing, Sparks. It is scary, what we are going through here. I try not to worry, considering my age, but I worry for my kids and my grandkids, for sure. They won't have the nation that they've become accustomed to. In fact the younger two (my son's 10 year old and 7mos old sons) don't know much about the nation as of now. My daughter's kids have been more out in the world, so they have seen things a little better than it will be years from now if things don't change. We are headed for a one-world government. AND I think he wants to be the head!

Well, we had it own, but when he started talking, I turned it off. I had already heard most of his talking points. They let the speech out long before he was going to make it. I didn't want to sit and listen to him. I knew we'd see it on Fox News all day tomorrow! Most of what has been proposed will help us not one iota! And I was glad to hear our governor has turned down $60 million dollars for unemployment because of the strings attached! We have a smart governor.

Hi sparky, I don't know much about politics to be truthful but everyone seems to favour Obama to pulling the troops out of Iraq as everyone was against it in the first place but as for recession, we are having big problems over her in the UK, many people are out of work and many businesses are closing down including large department stores, so I can really say we are in a deep s**t so how much more can we take? I thought Obama was going to make a big difference to us, but maybe it will take a long time before we see the light at the end of the tunnel, what do you think? love and hugs. Tamara xxxxx

I think the only thing at the end of that tunnel is a train and it's going to roll right over all of us! It's scary what's happening everywhere and I really fear for the future of my kids and their kids................

All I know is, if he doesn't continue to support your agricultural industry as he said he won't, then prices in Canada are going to go up because we'll be exporting more of our food to the U.S. And I don't like that. Why should Canada bear the brunt of supplying the U.S. when the U.S. is capable of supplying themselves with the time honored subsidies from their own government? It doesn't make sense. The agricultural industry has always needed subsidies, due to the very nature of the weather affecting crops. To take those away is to kill the industry as farms die. It scares the heck out of me..........

I missed my favorite shows, but at least I saw NCIS. Oh according to one of the other Canadians, we up here should all be praising him. I do wonder whether the former presidents spent that much time on the network, other then during a war. You know I do not like Hlllary that much - not being a Democrat supporter, if I lived in the States I would go for Republicans - but she would be much better than Obama. He really should scare all of you. And I thought when the football, baseball, and hockey games ran into overtime, I was really suffering. It this goes on, maybe I will have to buy all of my favorite Tv shows on Dvds because it looks as though I am not going to have a chance to watch many of them.

YES!YES! and triple YES! I am so O'Bama sick! I think he just likes to see himself on TV Sparks. He says the same things over and over, and yes, you said it, he and his new cabinet members are spend crazy. He keeps talking about creating "New Jobs", how about saving the ones already established. Our country needs to stop sending all our jobs to China, Japan and Indonesia. Oh and I left out Mexico. As for Afghanistan, he and the Democratic party have criticized Bush until the man has no bones left to pick meat from, for sending our troops to Iraq, but what is the difference here, he is making Afghanistan, his Iraq, go figure! Well off my soap box, can you tell I am not at all pleased with our new Prez?

I watched him and I was amazed at his ability to manipulate the 'viewer' without even looking at the cameras that were on him. You gotta admit he's got a great smile. Let's see how long it takes to get it wiped off his face when the country starts to hurt for food now that he has said he won't put anymore money into agriculture, but oh yeah, he's now going to put military expenses on the public budget.....somewhere it's never been before! And on and on.......frightening.

It is time for a real change, though I don't agree with everything the New President of the United States has done, there is a lot I agree with. Frankly education is a big issue for me and schools here in America are failing. Second, I believe that it is going to take not just the government, but every day Americans to make a change to make this country a better place to live. Me, I would have let all these companies gone under, I have not been for any government bail out in the previous administration or the current one. I feel the only thing it is going to do is hold off the inevitable for a few moths and then make it worst. I also lived on a military base that does desert training when Bush was elected into office. Two days after he was sworn in, he ordered our base to train more soldiers. We went from 2,000 soldiers a month to training 20,000 soldiers a month, with no notice. When the General was asked what was going on he said and I quote "We are going to invade Iraq around Christmas". 9/11 happened and it was pushed off to a little later. But 9/11 was an excuse to invade that country. I believe if a country don't like its leader, it should revolt against that leader, it was not the job or the US or any other country to go into Iraq or any other country for that matter, until the people are fighting on there own, against the in justice. Not to say people can't come and help them later, but its the people who should have started it, not the US. I have been for hunting down terrorist that attacked the US on 9/11. If they are hiding in Afghanistan then that is where we should be.

My whole point on this, is really this. We shouldn't be where we are unless invited. Bin Laden needs to be captured, and so does the rest of the people involved in 9/11. I hate any type of war. War is stupid and useless. It just causes misery for everyone involved, and those who are not. To blame Obama for the situation that the US finds itself in now though isn't fair, since he inherited the problems. We have spend 3X+ the amount in Iraq than has been spent on finding the people responsible for what happened on 9/11. I think that the US needs to work with foreign governments to try to capture these people without blood shed. Working with others can bring a fast solution to this. But that has been the problem. No one has ever wanted to work or talk things out with countries that are known to harbor terrorist, or is considered a terrorist nation. At least now the US has a president that is willing to talk and listen to try to fix the problems. I think its unfair that people are judging the US president so harshly, he has only been in office for a month. But at least he is trying to do things differently. I was hoping it would be a lot more different, but change don't happen over night, it takes time. I reserve my judgment for the next election, and with my vote, I will either vote to keep him or fire him based on his whole term not just for the first few months of his Presidency.

Canada has been a presence in Afghanistan for years. We are there on a peace keeping mission helping the country rebuild. Except for problems with the Taliban, we lose very few soldiers compared to what the U.S. loses in Iraq. I think most Taliban backed terror camps and cells have moved into Pakistan as Afghanistan is just too hot for them. My biggest fear with Obama moving more U.S. troops into Afghanistan is going to be the rise in casualties both civilian and military for all the U.N. troops that are currently there. I say, stay away. The U.N. troops are doing pretty good without the Americans bringing pressure to bear because they are so 'unpopular' over there. It's only going to cause a rise in deaths of our Canadian soldiers and that is just wrong. I'm sorry, but it just seems to me that wherever American troops go, it's one step forward and two steps back, and now they will taking other countries soldiers with them.

I'm not blaming Obama for the military situation avon. But as a Canadian we get very worried when he takes the stand he has taken on Iraq and Afghanistan. He IS putting OUR troops in jeopardy with this policy and we are going to lose more of our own boys because of it. He should be working WITH our government as Bush did in making the decisions that are going to impact more than just the U.S.......

i did watch it and was waiting patiently in between the seemingly constant applause for the president to explain his plan to fix this mess we are in. was everyone who voted so blinded by the need for "CHANGE" that they didn't notice that maybe he was not qualified to handle it. don't get me wrong he probably was the lesser of two evils but it takes more than a new president to fix the mess this country is in. things have been crooked for a long time. i am sorry but some of his comments last night made no sense to me. so according to obama if i volunteer at my kids school somehow the government will recognize that and i will be rewarded for that? how can anyone who has to work to support themselves further their education? who is going to pay for that? i am unemployed due to my place of business closing down. aside from unemployment (which I paid into and I deserve) no one is bailing me out! his stimulas plan does nothing to give me health care, my previous job was not providing it. i have some money in the bank (it's called a nest egg) so therefore i cannot think of getting food stamps. i am not in foreclosure, i rent and pay it on time. i cannot now afford a home and when i had a job i knew my income was not enough to safely commit to a mortgage. i didn't like sarah palin but i could have seen hillary in charge. men need us for everything anyway, don't they. as obama says, michelle is in charge at home....hmmmm....makes you think!
