People used to ask why I didn't vote for those stinking toll roads around town - well, the title says it all!
I won't drive on them, I voted against them, I've no doubt that they are trying to pay for the stinking things by charging those outrageous "administrative" costs because NOBODY is driving on them.
The "other" roomie works for them and she's losing her job, because they are talking out the human toll takers, because they aren't making as much $$ as they thought they would.
well, we could've told them that when you build something that's been voted down, you aren't going to get the traffic you expect.

Toll roads around here are always full. And still there is too much traffic. Now there are plans to make some more highways cause all the roads around here are traffic nightmares. One area is so bad that the once eight lane highway is now 24 lanes.

I-10, Katy Freeway. Since Katy has mushroomed in size the freeway had to be widened to take the load off.

[b]Good grief--are they nuts?! Who could pay so much money just to use the road? I thought you payed at the booth, & that was it! But what do I know; I'm not a driver.
Shoot. I knew there was a good reason I voted against this crap.

[b]Oh, it's just the usual crud that bureaucracy causes. Recall, won't you, that time I got 60 individual bills (60 envelopes!) in one day from Blue Cross Blue Shield telling me I owed them (when the bills were all added together) something like $60,000 bucks, back due, because Medicare had neglected to inform me that I was on Medicare, & thus should have had them billed first?
Yeah. And people wonder why I don't want government bureaucracy in total charge of the doctors!!!
No doubt they'll fix this stupid problem. They'd better if they want to keep anyone traveling on their [CENSORED] road!

That's crazy, years ago I went on toll road, throw a $1.00 in quarters and the lane gate came up to let your through. That seemed somewhat reasonable. I liked it better when there were people the years before. What if you don't have four quarters?
We had a Governor who built something before we voted on it. He thought we would vote for it. So the money didn't pass and he owed on it, so they robbed a different part of the budget to pay for it. So much for voting on stuff when they do what they want anyway, jerks. Where's my tea and my boat? Time to have another Boston Tea Party.

It's probably going to get worse. For years now cash strapped governments have been selling, roads, bridges, tunnels to private companies for money up front and these private companys then maintain them and recoup their money and more by charging tolls. So even if you didn't have a toll road, bridge or tunnel before, there may be one coming near you soon!
