My husband and I are celebrating our 5th anniversary in May and to celebrate this event, we decided to travel overseas for the first time. We decided to go to Bangkok. We will be staying at Baiyoke Sky Hotel. Our travel itinerary includes a visit to the Temples of the Golden Buddha and the Reclining Buddha. My officemates said I should also visit the Grand Palace, Siam Paragon, MBK Mall and Chatuchak Market. Any other place in Bangkok that is worth touring? Also, do you have useful travel tips for us? Thanks in advance.

that's a good hotel.
if you're going during the weekends, just downstairs on friday nights you would be able to start doing your shopping.
Baiyoke Sky hotel is at Pratunam. THe entire street is filled with shops and there are inner lanes of shops too.
Chatuchak only opens during sats and sundays. Sundays has more make shift stalls because the locals tend to shop there on sundays. So if you don't want to squeeze with them, you might want to go on a saturday instead. But that said, you might miss out on those make-shift shops.
I don't know about what is your priority. Because of me, i usually go there for shopping.
Oh oh oh. If you want to watch their strip shows (apparently it's like an itinerary. they say if you never watch a strip show, you've never been to bangkok. How true i don't know). But let me warn you, it's the red light district And the place is called Lum-pi-ni. And they do have shops / stalls for you do buy your artificial good grade branded stuff.

thanks for the tips! I also learned that chatuchak is open only on weekends. Unfortunately, we will be arriving on a wednesday and leaving by Friday, so I don't think we can go to chatuchak.
as for the strip shows, yeah, i'm really interested in that. but is that safe? are there no police raids in those places?

Hi Rakittera, we also went to the Patpong night market and had a boat ride on the Chao Praya. We missed the morning floating market, as we woke up too late. You can check this information with your hotel. They would have day-tours or useful tourist information and maps.
Be prepared for Patpong though - it could be rather raunchy (a lot of naughty girls around)! And try their local food, if you like spicy. I love their tomyam and beef noodles! Have fun and enjoy your anniversary!
