I just ran into this on our local Ch.5 news just a few minutes ago. It seems as though a man in Atmore,Alabamam a small town about 50 miles from Mobile, Alabama and about 15 miles from Pensacola, Florida with a pharmacy and health care store in Brewton gave each of his 24 employees envelopes containing $16000 in $2 dollar bills. His only stipulation was that 1.They take 15% and give it to charity or someone who needed it more than they did. 2.They spend it locally. Okay, MyLotters, what Say you?? here is the link: http://www.wkrg.com/consumer/article/country_boys_stimulus_plan/24014/

I think that is awesome. If all wealthy people did a little bit of that think of the possibiities. Think of how the economy could be stimlulated by this money that wealthy people just have sitting in savings accounts. I think this man is very wise, it would be nice if other would follow suit.

Yes that would set a precedence sort of. I feel if you have much, you should do something and one of the stipulations with the money was that they give 15% to someone who could use it or to a charity. That was cool and I liked that.

I kind of wish My Lot would have it where you can add something to your questions later on if you wish like they do at Yahoo Answers, but since I posted this last week on My Lot and got the nice answers that I did, I got some more links to it and I hope that will help. http://www.nbc15online.com/news/local/story/Brewton-pharmacist-launches-homegrown-stimulus/giC2dOf-NEeGnJKPziJa0w.cspx http://www.nbc15online.com/news/local/story/Brewton-pharmacist-launches-homegrown-stimulus/giC2dOf-NEeGnJKPziJa0w.cspx

I think that's a totally awesome show of generosity and humanitarianism! I've heard of a few stories like this one; sadly, just a few. I'm sure there are more of them out there since people like this generally want to stay out of the limelight. It does my heart good to hear stories such as this one. I would LOVE to be in a position to be able to do things like this but, right now, we're more in the 'receiving' area than the 'giving' area. Still, I think it's wonderful that some people who CAN do these types of things ARE doing them. It's times like these when folks come together to do what they can for one another because you KNOW our government isn't gonna do it! They're too busy bailing out huge corporations so the CEO's can have grand vacations and spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on themselves and don't have the time to even notice us little peons down here who TRULY need the help! Thanks for sharing that link. Every time I read or hear about things like this, my faith in humanity is renewed.

I feel the same way myself. He reminds me of the man in Florida who took $60 Mill of his own profits from the sale of his bank and gave bonuses to his employees and 72 of his former employees. See, there are some people left on this earth who can attest to the fact that to whom much is given, you should do. Instead of take, take, and take! Thanks for dropping by Mentalward!

wow, the only thing I can say is I feel like going "Woot Woot" and raising my arm in the air! lol! I think that that is a great idea, and such a very honest and kind man! I hope that something like this spreads though and that more and more people do do something like this. Keep the money at home and not out somewhere else.

Thank You Cowgirl, I was real glad for them people too. I can only imagine what they are feeling after getting such a bonus. Reminds me of Leonard Abess Jr who was at the president's address because he gave $60 million of his buyout money as bonuses to his employees. See, if we had more of these fellows instead of folks steady taking, this country would be in better shape! Not sitting here begging to keep your house and or job. that is not right. Thanks again for coming by.

Hey what can I say we Alabamians are very kind hearted. We would give you the shirt off our back. That was a very nice and noble thing for him to do. Savvynlady you know you gave some good direction to where Atmore is located.

Nchap, Thank You very much. I was guessing it myself. Atmore is not far from the Florida border either. real close. Thanks for coming by.

That's the best way for countries to correct their local economies... spend they money on products made in their own country!

Welcome Spook, You do have a point. Spend locally if you must. Although I am sure now that Atmore has had an influx of spending today. That was a nice human interest story. and felt the need to share it here on MyLot. I just seen it on the news a few minutes ago and figured it would go for a lively discussion here. Thanks for dropping by.
