AFI's Top Ten Mystery Films  

I don't know seems like a good list to me, I like the alfred hitchcock movies.

"Vertigo" was a tour de force; I recently bought a restored version on VHS and watched it all the way through for the first time ever. The original "Dial M" was enormously engrossing thanks largely to a mesmerising perfomance by Ray Milland as a cad of enormous elegance. "The Third Man" deserves to be on any list of this kind. I struggle to think of too many modern movies I'd place beside them mainly because so much was udnerstated in the classics. Having said that, this is off the top of my head, and Europe has produced some terrific lesser known thrillers in recent times.

I haven't seen Kaura or The Third Man. I will check them out. Of course Hitchcock has the most films on this list, but I think one great one has been left off. Notorious. Great film, great actors (Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman) and great suspense.
I just saw The Usual Suspects for the first time a few months ago. It is a very good film with a big twist at the end.
